NVIDIA Gameworks?

Made In Canada

So i just watched a video about Fallout 4, explaining how the game is said to be using Nvidia Gameworks.  Can someone explain to me what this means and or what it will do?  (i think i have a small idea what it is such as hairworks, but im just asking for clearification).

Also i do have plans to get a gtx 780ti soon, will the card benefit from this as well?

that means if you have an nvidia GPU you can turn on additional effects and get less of a performance decrease than if you used an AMD GPU

its just stuff like particle effects, shadows, fog, etc.

by looking at how Nvidia supports their kepler card, I would get a 970 or better a r9 390.

NVidia GameWorks adds a series of graphical enhancements that often utilize Phys-X which something NVidia hoped would catch on but never did, so now they work with developers to work it into their games via GameWorks. If you have an NVidia GPU you can enable these effects but if you have an AMD one you cannot, simple as that.

Personally I like all the cool little things GameWorks adds, it adds another layer of realism to some games with volumetric particles and lighting.

I was not asking for that but Thank You for the info.

However, just so youk now, the cards are about the same price and they really are not much different, however, the 780ti is more powerful.  Yeah the vram is 1gb less, however, it is more like .5 less if you know what i mean.  And for 1080p, the 780ti will do just fine.

It is the thought that counts so Thank You for trying to help.

Yeah, the 780ti is still a beast of a card and performs better than the 970 still and for 1080p it'll be more than enough for at least 2-3 more years. :)

Gameworks is a series of improvements in games made by NVidia to help make the environment and experience more realistic.

The most well-known one is Hairworks

there are a few unknown ones I'll try my best to recall them

Destruction works and WaveWorks (Involving the ocean)

Get a 970. this is coming from someone who has a 780ti. Especially in games that use gameworks, the 780ti can't quite keep up, and when overclocked they are very close anyways.

It is likely still very expensive because they have stopped making it.

as you see the performance is pretty close but the GTX 970 is newer and more energy efficient, it also has more ram and support newer features such as VXGI and color compression...if they cost the same and are the same ''grade'' of cards i would go with the 970 even if it's a bit slower it will run cooler and will likely overclock better so performance in the end with GPUboost 2.0 should be pretty similar.

If you plan on watercooling the cards, then by all means get the 780ti once you push voltage through those they can go pretty high and it's also very strong in many circumstances an overclocked 780ti will give a 980 a run for his money.

irrelevant bullshit i'm on a kepler card myself and when game ready drivers launch i still get performance increases, kepler and maxwell are not very different they use similar cores in terms of architecture and what's good for maxwell is also good for kepler...there has been one messed up driver that launched just after the witcher 3 where there was something wrong with kepler performance but it got fixed the next week and it has not happened since. Saying Nvidia no longer support or improve performance for kepler cards is complete BS they are still even supporting fermi.

Judging by how vram hungry the ck engine is, I'd go 970/390 as well. Anyway iirc, those effects won't be very complex so, it shouldn't be a problem for most cards.

Thank You for the suggestion.

And they are close to the same price if i recall correctly.

I dont overclock nor have plans to right now (maybe at the end of the cards life if needed).

I might think about itf or the few new features, but dont have too high of hopes for the 970.  (i know it may sound dumb but i just really like the 780ti).

I may watercool it for the gpu boost 2.0.

And with the drivers, do you really need to upgrade then or is it an option for better performance?

well it totally fucked your fps up in arkham knight, so we will have to see.

I really hoped no one asked or said this...

That was not Nvidias Gameworks fault, it was the developers fault for creating the terrible port.  I saw someone explain it so you now know and can explain to people it is not Nvidias fault.  This was a talk and if you thinki ts false, go take it up with the devs.

DSR is a big one for me as well as Hairworks and HBAQ+.  But there is others such as PhysX and SLI and plenty more.  Now i know AMD has their own versions of these like crossfire is the sli for AMD, however, its more about that these features are in some games i plan to play.

And i do plan to game on 1080p so i would have extra Vram to spare.  (ive heard the resolution is a Vram thing i believe, but correct me if im wrong).
