Patch for Crysis?

Hey Linus Tech Tips,

 

I have an old retail copy of Crysis that I reinstalled on my PC since I'm revisiting the series. I was wondering if there is a patch available so that I don't have to insert the DVD every time I want to play. Also, what are some mods you guys would suggest and patches I should install?

Its still cracking it no matter how you look at it lol.

And im pretty sure cracking a DRM is against their ToS anyways even if you rightfully own the game.

It is, its still circumventing DRM (thats the whole reason they want you to insert the DVD) which would be cracking.

Ah, I see. Is this still a common thing with retail copies of PC games?

I contacted EA on origin via chat and they gave me a origin key. NO more DVD...

Im not fully following your question...are you saying that If you install the Steam version of GTA5 is it cracking the game? No of course not, but that's not even the same thing, the steam EXE was specifically coded/made to run with steam and not a DVD, you are not circumventing any DRM, or breaking ToS to use the game in that case.

A better comparison then what you are trying to make would be to say If you change the Steam GTA5 exe to run without steam needing to be running, would that be cracking...and yes in that case it would be, absolutely.

That im not sure Sims3 was the last and only physical PC game I have and that required the game to be inserted.

Even retail copies need the steam, origin, uplay, etc client bull$}{it nowadays. Long gone are the days of installing just a game. You now install a *ucking store like steam.

 

Steam has ruined the gaming experience by placing a STORE as your new launcher. Most people are just to dumb to notice and accept it.

well, some companies even went so far to ONLY put the STEAM LAUNCHER on the disk... (mgs 5 tpp for ex.)

There are so called 'no CD cracks' available for almost any game. The largest site that does offer these cracks ishttp://m0002.gamecopyworld.com/games/gcw.php Even tho the site doesn't look very trustworthy, it actually is. Linus has even shown it on the wan show and every older pc gamer knows this site.

I apologize if you folks construed this post in a malicious manner. I wasn't aware that something like like this would be breaking DRM.

No need to apologize. Unfortunately developers and publishers do not offer a official NODVD patch for any game I know of. Steam and the other clients are as good as we can get :angry:

Some people call Steam/Origin DRM, as well as the real DRM's like Denuvo and such anti-pirating measures.

You can try to find what's called "no-cd patch", if you bought the game I see no problem with it.
