Hi guys,

When i run Prime95 on my i74770k at STOCK the temperatures boost right up to 90-92c!

I have an Corsair h100 cooler so that should not happen..

Anyone have any idea what this can be?

And re-seat the cooler.

P95 may still up the voltage on Haswell CPUs to ensure stability. I suggest something else like IXTU or AIDA64.

Prime95 is not recomended for Intel CPUs, SPECIALLY Haswell, it overvolts the chip and can damage it. Use OCCT, XTU, RealBench or Aida 64, If you still get stupid high temps, then check the voltage, if it's normal, reseat the cooler.

You can run P95 on Intel CPUs, just not Haswell based Intel CPUs.

its not recommended for all intel CPUs in general because it causes the adaptive voltage to increase beyond the stock voltage limit

linus has talked about this dozens of times

it is not just haswell

the only difference is that haswell has a tendency to heat up more because of the IHS TIM

prime 95 should still not be used on any CPU

Yes, that's using adaptive voltage. Your post just mentions not using it on Intel CPUs in general which isn't true. It's only a problem if you're using adaptive voltage and/or a Haswell based CPU. In my situation, P95 doesn't affect me because I'm using Ivy Bridge and static voltage.

but static voltage is bad for a CPU...

makes it run hotter and have a shorter life span

Haswell really, others are mostly fine, voltage hurts our beloved Haswell most.

OP, that's probably the reason why you're getting stupid temps. What's your idle temps?

did you not read the other post I made above?

Well i ran the test in Aida now just for a few min, the temperature in on the high 50c when stress testing cpu.. maybe i have some room to overclock then :) thanks alot guys

Awesome, it was fucking p95, under 60 on Aida64 is fantastic, you should have room for a good overclock
