Titan X Custom BIOS - Turning fan off at idle

TheCaptain53
Go to solution Solved by Lays,

It's probably locked to a certain minimum fan speed. You could mod the BIOS if you are willing to void the warranty.

It should work the same as this guide does it: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/275897-tutorial-how-to-make-your-900-series-video-card-have-a-0-fan-mode/page-1

If you restore the original BIOS before RMA they will still accept it.

Hey guys, so I recently installed an ACX 2.0 cooler on my Titan X and it's awesome. It runs cool, but my issue is that it adopts the same fan profile from when it was using the reference cooler. I've tried setting a custom fan profile on MSI Afterburner where the fans don't spin up until 50C, but it's not working.

Has anyone been able to turn the fans off at idle?

Use the guide here, I think the links have expired but I can't find new download links for them. @Gofspar may have them.

@Lays, have you heard of anyone doing this on a GM200 card? The fan noise of the card is getting on my nerves now. xD

How often have people bricked their cards doing this? Don't really want an £800 ornament.

If you use your own BIOS and only change what I changed in the video, it is impossible to brick your card if you follow the steps.

As long as your PC doesn't turn off during it, you're fine.
