Is there any way to save up electricity consumption on my 1000W PC?

After a month using my new build PC, i notice that my electricity bills goes up about 30%. What is probably a significant changes, is the PSU upgrade from 650W to 1000W. When i first planning the specs, i know that 1000W might be unnecessary for the build, and now i kind of regret it.

There is an increase in prices on higher electricity power, and its about 16% in my case. (I upgraded my house power from 2200VA to 3500VA)
I know the increase is probably fair, but i'm trying to save up for the next couple of months if possible.
My specs are:
 

  • Windows 11 Pro
  • MSI Z790 Tomahawk Wifi
  • Intel i7 13700kf (overclocked to 4.3GHz but issue still present at stock speeds)
  • 2x16GB Corsair 6400Mhz (XMP on)
  • 6950XT MSI
  • 1TB SSD
  • Corsair RM1000X


Is there some ways i can try to lower my consumption?

I've read online 6950XT user tend to undervolt their GPU for consumption, does it work?

Or is there any windows/bios settings i can try?

Having a 1000 watt power supply just means your components can draw up to 1000 watts, not that your PC will always draw 1000 watts no matter what.

 

If you want to measure how much power your PC is actually using, you need a plug-in mater like a Kill-a-Watt.

 

Honestly, if you want to save power, shut the PC off and get a laptop or ultra-small PC for surfing.

down clocking can have problems as well as overclocking can also have problems just depends. one game might work fine well the other wont.

under voting gpu and cpu or turing cores off could save some power but you could build a lower power pc thow... just depends if you need the cpu and gpu profromace.

platum will save a little bit of power.

 

like others pointed out a laptop would use less power thow they cost an insane amount of moeny...

 

there might be other ways of saving power in your house like using on/off timers and so on

You could try some limits, like lowered voltage on GPU if it can run games while on lower voltage, my GPU runs games fine on this: (even 50% could probably work for me)

Getting lower power components. Take into consideration if the performance of this hardware is being utilized enough to justify the increased electric bill. If you’re looking at your electric bill and not liking that your PC costs you that much money to operate, you may want to compromise by lowering the overall spec of your pc.

 

Get a 12100F and an RTX 3050. It will cut the power draw down substantially.

or just cut the power draw without additional hardware purchase with software like MSI Afterburner?

Gimping the performance of a 350w GPU is like deactivating cylinders on a giant V8 engine. Cadillac did it in the 80’s, turns out it was always just vastly more efficient to have a 4 cylinder to begin with.

It just doesn’t do that much.

yeah but PC hardware doesn't require a paid repair man to choke voltage, just one little program running in a background for absolutely free, no need to swap components, or buy them
