r9 380 4GB or GTX 960 4GB, or wait?

UCG_Gaddafi

R9 380, the 960 can't handle 4gb. FFS Nvidia.

R9 380 is by far the superior product. The 960 is so bandwidth-starved the 4GB are pointless

At this price range i would try to get a second hand GTX780/780ti or R9 290/290X or something.

It is not. That is just what people say tell it to be. but still the 4GB are kind of pointless on that weak of a GPU. 3GB would be "ok".

That is gonna take some time.

Leaks are starting to appear - might be here in November-December.

The card is bandwidth-starved, hence why it gains so much from memory OCs - cause it NEEDS more bandwidth to feed the VRAM. Even 3GB would be very sketchy on a 960. I needed to be 192-bit at the very least.

Wait, why did you put: "or wait" in the title :P

They probabily mean or wait for better.  Considering the "non-wait" version is christmas, i advise the r9 380 due to the more power.  (This is coming from a nvidia fanboy).

However, if nvidia suits you better (maybe because you got a g-sync monitor or you like the nvidia features) i would reccomend looking for sales around black friday, boxing day, and i new one i learned recently, cyber monday.  These days would be great to look at the 970's or even the 780ti's (my personal favorite).  Currently (if the deal is still on and in stock), you can get a B-Stock 780ti classified for $180 USD, if you are okay with used/refurbished.

This was mainly for @UCG_Gaddafi but i forgot to quote.

If seen benchmarks present other facts but you might be right.

My 770 suffers sefere stuttering in some games that can only be eliminated by crazy high memroy overclocks ...

A 10GHz (2.5GHz base) memory 960 would use the 4GB fine I'd imagine but that's just wishful thinking.

Yes, go for b-stock. It's the greatest thing ever.

The 380x looks like it's going to be pretty impressive, and since you're waiting two months it should be out by then. Though maybe we'll see a price drop on the 970 by then since there doesn't appear to be a 960 Ti coming out to compete with the 380x.
