So my friend, who will remain anonymous and I got into a stupid argument, the subject of which will remain unspecified as well... And I made the biggest mistake of my life....

I put out the ultimatum that I would not respond until they appologized for pushing my buttons and patronizing me...

And... I went to bed... I woke up to the something that made me die inside...

They think i hate them...

They think i dont want to be their friend anymore...

I screwed up so bad... What should I do?

As stated, apologize. Just be honest with how you feel, but also be honest with yourself. It was a stupid argument and you value their friendship more than anything. Friends can have a difference of opinions and argue, sometimes though you may just have to step back, take the whole picture in and say is it really that important that I push my issue or seek an apology. Or can I as a good friend show some forgiveness and move on.

When I get annoyed. I just won't talk to anyone that annoys me. Until they face up to what they did. And I tell them not to do it again.

I already have... They're offline... I still feel like crap...

I never should have put them through this... I should have just dropped it before I hurt them...

We all live and learn. Since you feel like shit now you won't act like that again. And hopefully your friends have learned the same thing.

If the people you hurt is really your friends, then they will accept your apology and the relationship you had with them will resume as if nothing happened.

Shit happens. Wait for them to come online and see what happens from there. Things probably aren't as bad as you're saying.
