I have just read a massive article.

I think I can do it without MS. I also don't want to waste 20 minutes of me not understanding the support staff and them not being able to understand me!

You don't lose hours or items in any game even when u uninstall steam . it's all stored on there servers so when u redownload the game u have the same hours and items u had ure last session

(As long as u have a steam account of course)

No, I lost 13 hours worth of gameplay that I could have recorded.

The only times I've had to contact Microsoft:

  • Activating Windows (various versions) because I apparently activated it too many times-even though I was following the ELUA and only installing it on 1 PC
  • Activating Halo 2 (I activated it once on my old Tecra M5, couldn't activate it on my main rig when I realised how badly the laptop played it)
  • Activating MS Office 2007 Home and Student (after a few years I found where the disc was, and silly me for thinking that I'd be able to activate it since the last 3 PC that it had been installed on all got wiped and sold or destroyed)

Long story short, I really don't like having to talk to people over the phone who don't have English as their first language because their voices get too distorted by phones.

I did see yesterday while researching mics that people had issue's with the 3.5mm jack from the snowball and windows not accepting it as line-in and it shows as a speaker instead.

Would try to use a USB connector if possible.

Lots of suggestions has been thrown here. As you can see, even we don't know.

The guy that hang up on you, probably wanted to put on you hold, or mute the mic for a second (maybe someone was asking him something), but hanged up, common mistake, especially with people who are new.

It's my Blue Snowball.

So you contacted Microsoft because your snowball, made and developed by Blue microphones stopped working?

I'm sorry If I'm wrong, but aren't you supposed to contact the people at Blue microphones instead? I mean, they made it and have to ensure it works, not Microsoft.

the snowball is native USB, it might not work with 3.5mm then due to power issues.

May the light have your back and your ISO low.

Still, it's a bad thing.

He hung up on remote desktop - I canceled the first attempt to exit, then he did it again (took my cursor.)

The mic works, just not in Steam.

hmmm that way, that's annoying yeah.

Sounds like a steam setting then to me, tried poking around there?

Steam>settings>Speach

I'm also using a Blue snowball myself, works flawless on steam(and W10/MSX) SO my guess is yours should work to.

Who is that a bad thing? The only company he should have called is Valve as his things works perfectly fin eon his system, but not with Steam. When you car has problems, you don't call the car tier company when you have an engine problem.

I am actually surprised that they even helped him.

I know he shouldn't have called them, but customer support hanging up in your face is a bad thing and shouldn't happen.

I recently tried Microsoft support for COrtana on my laptop and boy was it terrible. The guy didn't really help me a whole ton and came to a noob answer (I wanted him to help me edit the registry to fix the problem but he was like "re-install windows".)

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

Lmao "reinstall windows" that's the best thing I've heard all day.

Yeah, it works in every single program besides Steam. Here's the catcher - I've reinstalled Steam twice. The mic works perfectly fine with Steam on my other computer.

What about that? Have you selected your microphone in steam, and does it react to sound using the test? Kinda interesting.
