Go to solution Solved by Theo,

Get 4gb and be done with it!

Hey guys just wondering whether to get 4 or 4 gb ram on my graphics card.

I will be gaming. I have two monitors one is a 1080p ips 23" monitor, the other a is a old 900 by 1440 19" auxuiliary display.

I will be on a long upgrade cycle (few years) , so do you guys recommend 2 or 4 gb gddr5 vram

Thanks :) :D :lol:

(by the way how good is 1440 by 900)

P.S. this will be on a 770

Double check everything, I am usually wrong.

2GB is enough. I think you confused others by saying 900 x 1440 instead of 1440 x 900, making them think you were talking about 1440p.

The display is okay as an auxiliary but I'd avoid using it as a primary.

Games are now starting to use more than 2GB of VRAM.

Most people don't game at 2560 x 1080.

Agreed! The price is $40 more on a $400 dollar card... 10%, not buying it would be tragic.

Indeed.

For such little extra you get much more flexibility for multi-monitor or higher resolution setups.

@1080p 2GB will be enough.

Having a 4GB card at higher resolutions doesn't matter unless you plan on using at least two GPU's. A single GPU is just too underpowered to make use of all that VRAM at higher resolutions.

However, if its only a little more money for the 4GB card then buy that instead. Better to pay a little more just in case something comes out in the future that will need it.
