All the "overhead" photos of our milky way galaxy are a lie. None of them are real. Nothing man made has ever left the galaxy that could take pictures of it.

The OP said photos of OUR galaxy, not of other galaxies.  And yes, nothing man made has yet left the confines of our solar system. Voyager 1 is almost there though.  Voyager 1 has left our solar system and entered interstellar space.

There is when talking about spiral galaxies, they are pretty damn flat.

That is bs. We can't see that much light with our eyes, there is NO WAY you see the clouds with your eyes, you need long exposure.

That is bs. We can't see that much light with our eyes, there is NO WAY you see the clouds with your eyes, you need long exposure.

Although I did once realise it, when playing halo 3 after being teleported somewhere (really cant remember, must play it again, god Although here's the scene if it'll ring any bells ----> bloop    ) its in the sky, and a solider mentions it, the solider only says it once every now and again, or if you look i cant remember.

Go to the Southern Hemisphere, visit a very remote area miles and miles away from the nearest city/source of light pollution.

 

Objects like the Orion Nebula are visible to the naked eye in low light pollution regions.
