Pentium g3258 will bottleneck my build?

Go to solution Solved by airdeano,

depends on what you are using the PC for, but for general gaming a little, yes.

on the addition of a second GPU, deffo yes. the G3258 is a general placeholder

for an upgrade path to quad core (not quad thread) processors.

wasn't meant to be the end all in CPU usage.

So I just finished my build

CPU - Pentium g3258 (no OC yet)

COOLER - hyper 212 EVO

MOBO - Gygabyte GA-B85-D3H

MEMORY -2x4gb hyperX Fury white 1600

HDD - 1TB Blue Caviar

GPU - Asus Strix Radeon r9 380 4gb

CASE - core v21 micro atx tower case

PSU - Corsair builder 600w 80+ Bronze certified

I want to get a second GPU but I dont know if my CPU will bottleneck both GPU, I want to know if I can stay with the same gpu or if I should buy another CPU in that case what CPU would be the cheapest i should get?

You'll never use the 380 to it's full potential, with games always getting more CPU intensive.

I'd upgrade to something like an i5-4460.

Thanks

So right now i am not using the full potential of my GPU, even if i OC it?

2 cores are obsolete these days... i3's have 4 threads.

Even if you overclock it you wouldn't be using it to it's full potential.

Thanks

Yes it will. You're better off with i3 or an i5 (recommended)

at 1440p you will be fine but i do advise you to upgrade the cpu when you have the money too
