780 ti or 970

Pokemonking81
So im in the middle of making a new pc and im stuck on graphics cards . I'm looking at a 780TI classified or a 970 g1 gaming

Is there much of a performance difference?? Also i play games at 1080p.Pricing :G1 gaming is 360 and the classified is round 350-380

Also the 970 has 3.5 gb of vram so would 500mb of vram make that big of a difference to the 3gb on the 780ti.

Thanks

I believe that the 780Ti will perform slightly better in a lot of slightly older titles, but the 970 is newer and the extra VRAM may help.

I would look at AMD's offerings in this price range too.

Sig under construction.

Judging by how Nvidia supports their kepler card, I would get a 970 or better a r9 390.

XFX are decent - will run warmer by a bit but still good.

Aha seems like a lot of people recommend you team red LOL.  They couldn't be more right but if you only play 1080P, 780ti actually is a great option because I think you can get a 780ti in a very very low price(I've seen one 50$ lower than 970, WOW)...So totally worth it

Its got 4gb not 3.5gb I just did a bunch of tests on GTA V my card easily goes past 3.5gb and the only difference I saw was the VRAM saying its above 3500mb xD. But, for 1080p i would pick up a 780ti anyways.

Well if you compare the 970 and 780 Ti which I have done for awhile, newer games run better on the 970.  The thing that gets me though is that I can't see any 780 Ti cards that would still have it's warranty. So... you could buy one and it could die on you in 6 months.... you never know.  My GTX 770 didn't last a year and I'm just about to send it away to RMA and I bought it used but Zotac is being cool about it.  I'm having that strange fan ramping up and down for no reason issue. Fans work... but once the card loads the Nvidia drivers it goes bonkers. Of course this didn't happen until recently. Card still games but the fan profiles won't work no matter what. So.... moral of the story... if you buy used... make sure they give you invoice, OR... buy new. There was a MSI 100 LE edition for around $240 used.... I was looking at. I might sell my new 770 when it comes and get the 970 even though I was so dead set against it because I'm only going to run 1080p anyhow. I just hope I get no coil whine.
