Posted October 4, 2015 It was April of 2002 and I was walking around CompUSA 30 minutes to closing time and saw a new display going up for the GeForce 4600ti...I was a gamer at that time but always had mid level components...realizing buying this card would take me to a whole different level. I stood there staring until an employee told me they will be closing in 20 minutes. 2 minutes before closing time I grabbed a 4600ti...headed to the register ...and began the long, glorious PC building\gaming addiction... Background: I have been tinkering with computers since 1995...built my 1st one in 1996...it had a i486 DX2 66mhz CPU. I had 3 builds named Project Paragon...1st Project Paragon had (2) GTX 295's quad SLI. My 2nd Project Paragon II...things started to get a little more serious and I started to get into modding... link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEFcXjnAV84 - My 3rd (and most proud of) is Project Paragon III...a desk build...link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEztQAhhr3k Why? Well I was going through my storage and saw something wrapped in a paper towel...ripped the paper towel off and saw a anti-static bag...inside was my 4600ti. I was instantly taken back to the countless hours I spent playing Project I.G.I, Doom 3 and I.G.I 2: Covert Strike. When I went to put it back in the anti-static bag...I felt it would be right to honor my 1st high end GPU with a new build...Project 4600ti Specs: CPU: Sempron 3000+ Motherboard: Asus A7V8X RAM: Patriot 2GB DDR PC-3200 Storage: Seagate Barracuda 250GB PSU: Thermaltake 430w Case: AeroCool DS-Cube Black Edition GPU: PNY Verto GeForce 4600ti -IN HONOR OF-
 Posted October 8, 2015 Author Awesome man. I know the feeling. Yes sir...great seeing the card back up and running. Just hope I can get it to jive with Windows
Posted October 9, 2015 Author So....I wanted to put an SSD in this thing but just could not get the VIA KM400A / VIA VT8237 chipset to recognize the SSD in BIOS due to the 1.5 mb/s limitation. So I went down and got a PCI SATA controller board with its own chipset that supports SATA II. After setting the raid to concatenation...and loading drivers at the Windows 7 setup screen...it worked like magic. I did notice an improvement in speed...but the PCI slots on this MB are limited to 33mhz. The other issue is the 4600ti is not a DirectX 9 compatible card and has some major issues with OpenGl. And to get it to run on Windows 7 I had to install Nvidia XP drivers in XP compatibility mode....it works...but it doesn't play well with Windows 7. I tried 10 different driver versions. So I am going to put XP back on and call it good.
