the thing is that unless you put a hefty amount of money in, it won't make much of a difference whether or not you buy a stock. Plus if it increases a lot, you'll be kicking yourself for not investing more, and will maybe make rash decision in the future. Stocks are scary.

I was thinking like 1000$

i'd invest now, and pull out right before zen launches

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

@techguru

So, you think that if Zen is as good as AMD said, they will reach $10-$15?

Look at AMD's graph over the last 10 years. Compare it to all their product launches. Find the best product launch they did. Look at how it affected their stock price.

I guarantee it won't be anything like that (a 10x fold increase).

AMD's stock doesn't care if their product releases are good. Even if they are good, and all they are hyped up to be, the stock does what it want. Even if the market is moving towards positive, the stock will do what it wants.

Most stocks don't act that way, but AMD's does (I've watched it for some time). It just doesn't care. You can't predict it. Er, you probably can, but whatever the driving factor is for that company's specific stock is a mystery to me. News, market movements, fundamentals, etc doesn't seem to indicate what it's going to do.

I've chosen to never invest in AMD because I can't trust it to do what I think it will do based on the aforementioned information. Take that as you will.

AMD stock huh? I'll weigh in on this in a bit. @Vitalius give your thoughts!

Yes mas'sah.

no, it would not. as explained here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/436000-is-this-a-good-time-invest-in-amd/?p=5844728

july 22 was $2.53, sept 11 the stock price was $2.01 and now is $1.72

(32% price drop in 60-days) not an investment short or long call. the

ZEN info release was barely a blip in investment news. even with a

rumor of samsung looking to invest towards 20% of holding in march

showed the confidence to drop from $3.05 to $2.72 in two weeks.

above $15.00 will not see those days again. luckily $5.00, but from a

platform launch (others had failed and lost credibility) you'd be tough

to see a $2.75/$3.00 and that'd be for another 9-12months.
