Why does the i7 3770k cost more than the i7 4790k?

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-3770K

Could someone please explain this to me? It's an older processor and doesn't run as well.

Is there some secret I don't know about? I own a 3770k (bought one 2 years ago)

The GPU on the 3770 is 2X better

Ah, so it's only because of the integrated graphics? Does that really justify such a steeper price?

It's because of low demand and alot of them die by LN2 overclockers due to the fact they are still the best CPU for Superpi

you mean 5775c?

no... the 3770k had a 2x higher base clock speed on the gpu. Then the turbo puts the 4790k over it by 100MHz

amazon.com pricing is always weird

its more expensive because there are not that many of them on the market, so supply and demand...

I'm just getting it from the data displayed there.

As for price I think it's just takeing the lowest price it comes up with on amazon. So one could be without the cooler. Also depends on your country.

clock speed don't mean everything

intel tweaked the iGPUs a whole lot from Sandy/Ivy to Haswell/Haswell Refresh. The 4400 is still unusable for gaming but they're better than the HD 4000.

they both come with stock coolers...

all consumer CPUs come with stock coolers...

and the 3770k is years older than the 4790k with an older iGPU that performs worse

maybe the fact that 3770 is smaller than 4790 isnt obvious enough

Because it pulls random information from sites like Amazon for pricing. Since it's not made anymore, it's sold on Amazon at marked up prices.

Wait, I want to get something straight.

Some CPU's get more expensive over time? In theory, you could stockpile CPU's and sell them while making a good profit if this is the case.

No. Companies who still have stock of the 3770k, sell it at marked up prices because they can. The price doesn't go up naturally.
