Just got the 980TI Lightning to test out....

Profoundsoup

Jayztwocentz couldnt get over 1525. Though I suppose its possible he got a bad lottery card. Granted 1525 is still above 1520.

The card did 1560 before it was sent to Jayz, Kingpin himself tested it before he sent it out to Jayz. It's all over the EVGA forums and KPC forums as well as OCN.

Jayz said he was having issues in the review, and the problems he was having is because he was using the newest drivers and they had some issues with achieving max clocks on cards.  353.62 is what he should of been using, and he wasn't.  Kingpin tested it when he got the card back, sure enough still did 1560.

The issues Jayz was describing were also issues others experienced on OCN and KPC forums, solution to those issues was to use 353.62.

Remember that one time when I was recommending people to spend the extra $50 and get a KingPin?

This is why B)

Nah both my EVGA 980ti SC+ cards have good ASIC scores. One being 75.8% and the other card being 75.2% ;) and it only cost $679.99 a card instead of a wiping $800 and somthing a card. ( sun glasses on ) :D

The ASIC value isn't where the value in the KP comes from (That is part of it), it's the immense amount of support from Vince (kingpin himself) and his team that helped design the BIOS, and GPU itself. Not to mention it's probably the best designed GPU in the history of GPU's in terms of features.  The card is an absolute tank. There's dipswitches all over the card for extra voltage, v-droop, 3 BIOS, etc.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all,the kingpin itself is a bad ass card no doubt, but if someone was to just base the card on EVGAs promotion on ASIC quality control, that is just a waste of money.

That card isn't for watercooling, really, it's meant more for LN2.  I mean yea you CAN watercool, but all of the features it has (and that you spent the money on) are going to waste.

So your saying the classified would be better? Also with the kingpin you get a guaranteed high ASIC quality

ASIC quality doesn't mean it will be a beast overclocker all the time.  I would ask @Lays more about the classified, he's had his longer than me.

I mean.....atleast in MY experience high ASIC quality cards seem to OC better and are more stable..

They generally do, yea, but it's not always a given.

@Zah

There honestly really isn't a card that's good for watercooling IMO. There are ones that are "better" since you get unlocked voltages and things like that, but it really honestly doesn't help maxwell much at all.

Usually the benefit to watercooling is smashing your GPU with voltage and getting high overclocks, but maxwell doesn't respond to voltage very well at all on ambient temperatures.

You really need to have chilled water / phase / DICE / Ln2 for these maxwell cards to really benefit a lot.  Otherwise going from air to water will really only gain you 10-30 mhz.
