I bought an AMD GPU because when I first built my PC I had no idea what the difference was

NVidia. Only because it's the higher end GPU I could buy without having to replace my power supply.

Otherwise I would of gone for a R7 370 or 270x

I bought Nvidia because the reviews were better and the card runs cooler.

I bought Nvidia's GTX 970 cause at the time R9 390 wasn't out, the R9 290X was worse and nothing indicated that the 390 would change anything

AMD 6950 in main rig and 7770 in secondary rig.

6950 was a good deal and it's a triple slot cooler, looked badass for me back then, but i won't get one again, after having it for years i can safely conclude it's too big :D

 

7770 was best thing in budget that was new, only thing at that time from nvidia to fight against it as a 750 ti, and it was just not that good, so i went 7770.

Both Nvidia and AMD have cards in my machines...

My needs vary with my Software suite requirements and the usage of my PC's (Cuda/OpenCL/Recording/Gaming)

But both are great at making products for most peoples needs.

 

GPU's in this house. (Not all being used currently)

4x HD7950's, 3x HD7970's, 2x 290x's, 1x 290, 2x GTX 970, 1x GTX 580, 1x GTX 560Ti

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

G1 GTX 970 

 

At the time it was the best option for sub £300; plus, I'm yet to have an issue with their software and drivers.

I'm running AMD, because in my opinion they hammer NVIDIA in the low-mid "sweet spot range" where I shop (380 beats 960, 390 beats 970, etc.) Yet to have an issue with software.

I had AMD, but switched to Nvidia after never ending agony with AMD's drivers. And 970 was faster and cheaper than 290x (390(x) wasn't out yet) for 1080p plus my case has terrible airflow, so Maxwell was way to go.

Switched to AMD after my first 2 Nvidia cards (550Ti and 590) wanted to try radeon out. Loved the balls off my HD 7950 but unfortunately that ended with problems, So i picked up a 7970Ghz for about 200-220$ (cheap because it needed replacement fans). And it does everything i need, with that huge vram limit i oh so love.

I only use Nvidia gpus anymore.  Used to be ATI/AMD when I was folding years back, but then CUDA came and I can game, fold and run pro apps with it.
