Asus ROG SWIFT vs Acer XB270HU side by side comparison image quality.

toben67

The ROG swift got a huge price drop. ($650 new $575 used) compared to the Acer XB270HU where the refurbished $600 monitor price is gone :(. So now it goes for $750-$800 new and $640 used. I was wondering if the ROG Swift was still worth it. After seeing this article the ROG Swift looks pretty damn good even for a TN.

Do you guys think it is worth it?

Or should I consider the MG279Q even though I'm getting a 980ti the reviews turn me off but 485-500 that's a steal!

The Swift is fine, personally I would not get it because I do colour accurate work but for normal users and gamers its an amazing monitor especially for the price

G-Sync is dead.

What? haha how is Gsync dead?

besides you can still use it as a normal 144hz monitor

I dont watch tek syndicate

Sure adaptive sync seems to be becoming a standard for all displays and GPUs i believe Gsync is still better implemented (currently)

I use the Acer xb270hu.

You will not find a Monitor with a better Picture. And Gsync makes it perfectly smooth and tearing free, no matter what FPS.

PS.: People wo say Gsync is dead cant be serious, or know nothing about it.

"G-sync is dead" is a very good prediction, because you can hack GTX cards to think of DP as of eDP, allowing them to use AdaptiveSync aka Freesync or mobile G-sync

GSYNC is dead hurrr durrr I have no thought of my own and just regurgitate shit I hear on youtube and read on forums durrrr.

The ROG Swift at that price is great, but I'm still not convinced over the XB270HU.  They're both solid monitors.

Basically they used a click bait title on one of their videos and now everyone who either didn't watch the video, or doesn't understand what it was saying thinks there is no point in buying a G Sync monitor  <_<

And @toben67 if you wanted an IPS Panel, and if you are able to wait a while longer then you could pick up either of the new alternatives to the two you mentioned.

The PG279Q or the XB271HU

They should come in at the same price that the older versions are now, and the PG279Q will be 165Hz, while the XB271HU may be 150Hz (random I know) with a major design change.

PG279Q: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/442850-asus-rog-swift-pg348q-pg279q-refresh-rate-updates-100hz-165hz-ifa-2015/page-1 Release is at the start of 2016

XB271HU: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/442851-acer-predator-xb-series-updates-g-sync-ifa-2015/ Release in October/November 2015

And about the reviews on the MG279Q it's all mainly due to bad quality control issues, however you have to keep in mind that people are more likely to leave a review if they are unhappy with the product then they are if they are enjoying it, and all these high end new tech displays have had some sort of bad quality control issues. So if you want to save a bit of money and drop G Sync then the MG279Q is a fantastic option, and if you are unlucky enough to get a bad sample then you should be able to return it for a good one anyway.

So yeah up to you.

Seriously 150hz 165hz because 144 wasn't enough anyways I've read that the rog swift will have a TN panel a according to guru3d.  However those new stands look amazing especially the Acer one.. Also I don't think I would need a refresh rate above 150hz I mean the Acer z35 says to have 200hz but the only super competitive game I play are shooters and LoL not too much CS:GO. And I don't even think I can reach those frame rates. With a single 980 ti. I would get the PG34 yet I'm assume it will be like $1300.

The PG279Q is the IPS one which is coming (Latest start of 2016, but may be before) and the TN one is the PG278Q, it's the PG279Q (IPS) that will be 165Hz (Although yeah, how much of a benefit that will be is yet to be seen lool, probably just a marketing spec, but no harm in having it I guess.)

And the Asus PG348Q w/ its 100Hz should be released Q1 of 2016, and it should be the same price as the Acer x34, so yeah, pretty high :c

From guru3d it says it TN I mean everone in the comment section is complaining about it.

Lol that's just a mistake on their behalf.

It's 100% an IPS Panel display, that's literally the whole point of the release :P It has been confirmed to be IPS for months now :)
