Fallout 3 or New Vegas?

hong1204

With Fallout 4 coming out soon, what previous Fallout game should I play to get into the series? I've never played the Fallout series before and I don't want to spend too much time playing all previous ones! Thanks!

Tough call... I finished both, but if I was forced to choose "just one", I would go with F:NV... you can have multiple endings depending on the faction you choose, plus the DLC's from what I heard (never got to play them on PS3) were pretty good.

Your right, the DLC adds a couple of 100 hours to the gameplay

If you have both and don't mind running mods why not use a tale of two wastelands it lets you play fallout thee in new vegas's engine. You end up playing both not sure how it works with the transition between the two haven't finished playing three with it yet but it is more stable and like beautiful.

This is actually a valid point I forgot about alot of people seem to have issues.

I prefered 3s world, and story most people prefer NVs story but ive found it very interesting honestly.

Will Fallout 4 continue the story from Fallout 3 or Fallout NV?

Fallout 3 all the way New vegas is garbage absolute garbage.

Will Fallout 4 continue the story from Fallout 3 or Fallout NV?

New story, no continuation. Though Fallout 4 is geographically closer to the Capital Wasteland of Fallout 3 than the Mojave Wasteland of New Vegas. Also, there were things spoken about in Fallout 3 that may be in Fallout 4, though it would mostly just be things like factions/locations, etc. For instance, one of the side quests in Fallout 3 involves hunting an android for the Institute (post-apocalyptic MIT) which is located in Boston. Fallout 4 takes place in Boston and appears to not only include the Institute, but also androids.

Bethesda will probably have throwbacks to both though. If you have the cash, I'd suggest getting both. You have plenty of time to complete them before Fallout 4... and they'll definitely cut out a huge chunk of the wait time.

Both are awesome, but i say go with FO3.

The World is realy fucked up, a destroyed Mutant enfested Place. Against that, Vegas seems almost civilized :P

fallout 3.  Fallout new vegas is only good if youve played fallout3, because wihtout a frame of reference new vegas actually kinda sucks.  Fallout 3's atmosphere and story will get you going, then youll realize you want more features which fallout new vegas provides but new vegas has a worse world to explore and play in.  New vegas has superior DLC though and better modding.

So, try fallout 3 first.  Fallout 4 will reference fallout 3 a lot, and likely will completely ignore new vegas.

Dont want to spend too long? well they can take you anywhere from blitzing through the main quests in a few hours

to hundreds of hours of side questing

Can easily blow through the main quest and a few important side quests in like 10-20 hours

There was a vault, cant remember the Number, with ridiculous hig amount of radiation infront the entrance. I never managed to get inside. I took all the Pills i had, worn the best anti radiation clothes i had found. Not a single chance. 20m infront the Door the Radiation goes into the hundret´s.

Any chance you know what place i mean?

Yes in FO3. Somewhere in the N/W if i recall correct. I know nobody who was able to get inside. All my Friends died within Seconds because of the Radiation too. There must be a Way to get inside.
