Whats up everyone!

 

in addition to Project Revitialize, i'm also working on Black Gold V2!

 

brief history about this project....

 

it started off last year in August as just a revamped Black Gold. same air 540, but x79 and titan blacks.

well while i building that the client decided he wanted to move to the then new x99 platform, so we had to sell and send back most the parts.

 

then fast forward a few more weeks, and the decision was made to switch from air 540 to the in win s-frame, which changed everything lol. anyway after months of back and forth with the buyer and getting everything ironed out, we have finally been given the go ahead to proceed.

 

phew.

 

so the specs:

 

Case: In Win S-frame #140/500

CPU: Intel 5960x

Mobo: Asus Rampage 5 Extreme

Ram: Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 3000mhz 32gb kit

GPU: 2 x Titan Blacks (dont hate, its what he had)

PSU: Corsair Ax1200i

HDD: WD 2tb Black

SSD: 2x Samsung 840 pro 256gb

 

Watercooling

Blocks: EKWB

Pump: DDC with clear top from EK

Res: FrozenQ Helix 250ml

Rad: Coolgate 360

Fans: Enermax Gold fans

Update and current status!

 

So you may have seen this floating around but we painted the Rampage 5 extreme black and added gold to the heat sinks.

 

we masked everything up, plugged the dimms with cardboard and sprayed with regular flat black spray paint. the gold on the heatsinks were rustoleum gold

the decision to paint the sframe gold was made long before we knew that inwin was actually going to make a gold one, out of all the colors they had to pick that lol! :angry:

 

anywho, onto the photos. we painted everything that was red gold, and cut the radiator bracket's lip, for reasons you'll see later.

How did you paint the red? Did you tape off everything and then prime and paint with a brush or sprayed it down? It looks really neat though.

thanks man. it was masked us, sanded for a better tack and air brushed

small update.

 

the client elected to use the FrozenQ Res. The quality on this res is amazing. a very solid piece

 

 

 

 

 

tonight i will install the gpus, and hopefully design and make the radiator mounts!

Doesn't the Inwin S case already come in Black/Gold variant as shown by Newegg? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811108128. Not my favorite color gold, but it looks great.

yep, if you read back to post # 8 , the plan to make this black gold was made long before in win decided to launch the black gold variant. it was a major bummer, out of all the colors to choose they go and make the one we were making lol

new fans for this build bc lets face it, those enermax ones were'nt going to cut it.

 

with the new release of the thermaltake RGB RIING fans i think it'll give much better cooling results and a better chance of a goldish led tone!

 

 

these are pretty sweet!

 

 

 

 

have to make a 4p fan to molex cable quick to see these babies light up. will post back!

The gold on the case looks tremendous! However it doesn't look like it matches the motherboard and memory in the pictures. Do you plan on quickly hitting up the motherboard and memory with some of the airbrush paint, or leaving it as is?
