IFA 2015: Asus unveils GTX 980 Ti Matrix Platinum

ChrisxIxCross

Well NZXT does have a certain style. I'm still trying to figure out a way to swap all my orange trim pieces for ones that light up. The wiring is going to be a small nightmare.

The PSU cover in the Noctis is what brings it to the top. Doesn't look tacky like a lot of cases.

Eventually I plan to make my own cover for the Phantom. More modular HDD bays and fixing the front fan mounting is on the list too. The best thing I like about it is there's space in the top to put a pretty large fan controller if I wanted one. Just need resources and time to do it all. Rather have decent hardware in it first though.

Updated with some more pictures @DarkBlade2117 Looks like they are going with new metallic orange accents which is odd.

I think the card looks sharp AF. Best looking 980 Ti. But that's just one man's opinion. :)

Well considering the strix is a piece of shit that no one should ever buy or allow friends to buy, I hope this cooler is actually decent.

Not that I would buy it (cause Asus is probably the single worst customer support ever) but at least this looks decent (if I painted the Orange it would look really nice in a lot of builds).

That said premium gm200s have consistently shown to not make sense unless doing ln2.

I do, matches my case. :D

It is literally the only reason why I'm going to buy it. Might make more sense to get a G1 or Lightning and slap some platst-dip on it, but hot dang....

Orange/Black is the best colour scheme possible imo.

how many times are asus going to recolour the same "premium" cooler design

Seriously... This new RoG orange copper look is absolutely awful. Just why??? RoG is RED and should always be red.

Yeah there will be no gains in extra fps but Im sure people will buy it purely for looks.

Why isn't it red and black, though? I've been waiting for god knows how long for them to produce a new Matrix card with the colors I expected from an ROG branded GPU - but without the gimmicky "LED's you cant control that force the green/blue light into your case against your will just to ruin the theme you've been going for".

They didn't just keep the LED's, they swapped out the color palette entirely as well?! What the hell???

Nah, if the new MSI Lightning is going to be 729$, this will most likely be 750$ or less. Only the EVGA Kingpin is super overpriced and expensive.

Kingpins are selling like hot cakes, within an hour of new batches being announced, they basically sell out instantly :P

Lol that may have been true at first because I've checked a few times recently and its been regularly in stock. I guess the hardcore guys who really wanted it got it and now not very many people are buying it. The Lightning was taking too long so I ended up getting myself an EVGA 980 Ti Hybrid. And Im so freaking happy I did because its absolutely insane how quiet and cool it runs! I also was absolutely floored with how damn close my performance was to my previous 980 SLI. Not to mention it matches PERFECTLY with my B&W system, I was worried it would be gold like i saw in pictures but I was really surprised how it ended up being like this darker silver color.

I heard a rumor the orange might be special edition and the red black may be available. I sure hope so because the orange is so awful looking. I have been waiting for the 980 ti matrix in Red/Black for ages. If its red/black I will buy one or two. If it is orange, I'll probably go MSI. Shame on Asus for not making this clear, considering its so late and its the last 980 ti to the party.

Now why can't they make a 970 that looks like that?

And why did I have to get the strix? Damned thing is so hideous.

The impulse buy sounds real.

Currently have a black/orange color scheme in my build. Was looking to buy a 980ti. This seems like what I've been waiting for.
