since you are in Denmark, I doubt you have to worry about really low humidity up there. Dry air is when this becomes somewhat of an issue. If you want to build without one and you are worried, plug the psu into the wall to ground (switch stays off) and touch the case. Should be fine. Or go for a wristband.

I live in Indiana, and I typically only take anti-static measures with very expensive crap, servers ect. Typically I just touch the case, if I do anything at all.

You're never perfectly safe..

That's like saying prisons don't keep all crazy people at bay so we should just get rid of them. Wriststraps cost $4. That's a low enough price to reduce some of the possibility of ESD. And most people seem to think that if it boots, no ESD damage was done.

Degredation of components doesn't have to be instantanious.

I don't always use it either, due to locations. But if I can, i will.

I've watched someone turn and pull a computer off a workbench with a wrist strap. There's a detachable button, but it was very strong apparently.

(I typically attach a short extension cord to the wall, and plug another into that with only the 3rd pin)no gravity stress) and plug a wrist strap into that and wrap it around my ankle if I'm working on really expensive stuff. Needless to say I've tripped a few times)
