Linux Live discs - can I create new files and use it on Windows?

If I were to use the Ubuntu Studio live disc and edit my own videos or create some 3d graphics, can I transfer those files into Windows (my hard drive) without creating a partition for Ubuntu Studio? Can I also install programs using the live disc without actually installing Ubuntu Studio?

If you do it on a live USB and do some serious fiddling yes its possible to have a pluggable USB Live Boot Drive + access the files outside - but it isnt *that* easy to do.
