Bad time to be a PC Enthusiast in Canada.

MahtXL

Yea it surprises me actually, when I went to canada like, 7 years ago the CAD was worth more than a dollar, the trip cost me quite the pretty penny, but now, the tables have flipped.

So... by default the US dollar has risen in value, not because it's actually risen in value, but because everyone else's dollar is falling in value faster :D WOOOOO USA USA USA USA

And now I'm sad again as I remember gas then was only 2$ a gallon... it's almost 5$ again here for premium, which is the only gas I can use for my cars ;-;

The English are the ones that suffer. Look at this build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/CpGkBm. Uses a bunch of generic parts that a lot of people buy. Price in the UK, converted to USD? $1106. Price in Canada, converted to USD? $958. Price in the U.S.? $986. Those parts are all extremely common and I would say represent a lot of the community, about the same price in the U.S. And Canada, and MUCH MUCH mor expensive in the UK...

$1106 with tax* Prices in the UK include tax.

How old are you and what is your income.

I still don't understand how there are people on this forum with +50.000$ salarys, +25.000$ cars and 400.000$ houses that can "I can just afford a dual core with R7 260 M8"

Open your eyes and break your chains. Console peasantry is just a state of mind.

Weird in Canada, we have free healthcare, uh what else higher minimum wage, if you do the conversion it's pretty much almost the same.

Yeh and guess what else goes up when min wage does? gas. groceries. so on. It literally is worthless when everything cost wise goes up as well.

1 USD does equal 0.76 Canadian. Your attempts at trolling are really pathetic. Go back to redit.

no it doesn't. you are the troll. the Canadian dollar is worth less than the american dollar.

On the plus side Our dollar is slightly stronger than Australia.

In reality though, our biggest Export partner is the U.S., and our Dollar directly reflects how broke or wealthy the U.S is. The less money Americans have in general, the lower we need to drop the value of our dollar so Americans can still afford to buy our crap. Right now the U.S. is broke as bleep.

That's not what half of this topic was about. It was about whether 1 USD = 0.76 cad or the other way around

It's not much better in Australia either.

A GTX Titan X in America might cost $980 to $1000, but in Australia you're looking at $1400 for the cheapest deals.

Yeah I said the 'cheapest' deals, because the online computer store I use has it listed at $1599.

Although I should mention that Australians have a higher average income, so it's not all bad I guess.

currently, it depends on the condition or ailment. Some illnesses or injuries come with disability, which is free medical care, or almost free (although you can't work when on disability, or at the least have restricted hours depending on the condition).

Again, I admit American "healthcare" needs a revamp. Some parts of "obamacare" I do agree with. Such as requiring insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions. They also need to start requiring dental work to be covered by health insurance, you know....since poor dental hygiene can KILL YOU. How that isn't health related is beyond me (also not covered or addressed under "obamacare".).

As I said, healthcare has a number of issues. I don't agree fully with our "previous system" or the current one, and nor do I agree with completely socialized healthcare (because it drives up cost and taxes, almost infinitely if you have the same immigration beliefs as the "progressives" do in the US).

I often find myself falling somewhere between pure capitalism and pure socialism. I think we should have a capitalist society, but I also think that companies shouldn't be allowed to havev a 90%+ profit margin either. Nor should we allow patents, and we need to restrict copyrights. We also need to be more strict about welfare. I used to work at a liquor store, and I can tell you, people gladly sell their food stamps to other people for cash, and then buy booze.

If you're buying booze by trading welfare money for cash, you need to get a f**king job.

I can go deeper into our economy if you wish. In many ways. "damages" from piracy; regulations on interest, debt, and lending (or financial enslavement as it is more properly known). For example, I think any company that has the majority of its holdings, finances, or employees in other countries, should lose all of its patents and copyrights. PERMANENTLY. (exceptions allowed for non-physical internet based companies like LMG for example)

Lets see the lawyers get around that one eh? Also, MAJOR changes in what is allowed to be included in an end user license agreement. Plot-twist, they benefit the consumer over the corporation.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs
