I changed my mind!

skate048

I did run AIDA, not extensively (between 5-10 minutes), but it ran perfectly fine, with maxes around 80 for the CPU in a room with a 24-ish ambient (no laptop cooling pad shenanigans). Games won't be stressing the device like AIDA does, so I expect gaming to be fine.

Don't forget it's also a very silent and thin laptop, so you are obviously going to sacrifice SOME cooling, but 80 is perfectly fine for a laptop with a non-ultrabook i7.

I really should run AIDA one of these days to be able to compare with people. I'm more accustomed to throttlestop's bench or intel XTU's stress test or Linpack.

Did you make sure that the CPU was keeping its full boost (3.4GHz on a 4720HQ) during this time?

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

Sir, if you think Acer laptops have better build quality than other gaming laptops that lack the name "HP" in them, you should stop giving advice about gaming laptops.

I have had a gs70 before, and I can tell you first hand that build quality isnt their forte.

The fact that their "premium metal" laptop has more flex than other mainly plastic laptops I have used, goes to show what their priority is.

Just because msi is a more gaming orientated company, it dosent meant their low end laptops are going to be any better built than other laptops in the price.

Wait, check out this Clevo P651SG first. 3 cooling fans guaranteed to not thermal throttle, and a 980M for you to play with in a thin form factor of around 28.8mm.

You have to remember that anything not sold locally in Scandinavian countries, is basically out of reach because of the import tax.
