I changed my mind!

And it has only like 200gb's of storage so yeah.............. no!

You're watching the wrong model - my friend's lappy is barely 3 Kg in weight and the Red backlight can be turned off IIRC - check for the one with HDDs, not SSDs.

And that is waaaay to heavy and big!

If you're looking for extra slim then go for a Razer Blade.

I'm out of ideas mate :D - high power and slim and light don't really mix, except for the Blade - usually the lappy will either flex like rubber or overheat like a furnace.

Wait, check out this Clevo P651SG first. 3 cooling fans guaranteed to not thermal throttle, and a 980M for you to play with in a thin form factor of around 28.8mm.

Like I said - Acer not always honor warranties - Acer and HP are very bad in terms of laptops.

Oh, HP laptops aren't comparable to anything. Their pro models are fine, but their consumer laptops are the worst, no matter how bad you think Acer are, HP laptops are so bad they deserve a separate category. I know of at least 3 HP laptops whose fans just stopped working, resulting in a fried motherboard for one (after repair it still overheats). One of the other 2 needed another new fan after 2 months or so.

As for Acer, my girlfriend owns one of them aspire nitro's and I was impressed by the thermals and build quality. I don't know what series you're talking about, but the Aspire nitro is great, aside from the huge bezel around the screen. They really should've made that screen bigger.

it should serve you well. Likely has better build quality than the msi as well.

Sir, if you think Acer laptops have better build quality than other gaming laptops that lack the name "HP" in them, you should stop giving advice about gaming laptops.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

I liked for your HP hate, but the Nitro doesn't have very good cooling. You probably aren't stressing the system all that much or the thing is killing its turbo boost or something. By the law of thermodynamics, the Acer Nitro should have a very hot CPU. The GPU I'd believe is cooler, but that's more because the 860M/960M chips are exceedingly cool by design. Not really by Acer's cooling prowess.

I did run AIDA, not extensively (between 5-10 minutes), but it ran perfectly fine, with maxes around 80 for the CPU in a room with a 24-ish ambient (no laptop cooling pad shenanigans). Games won't be stressing the device like AIDA does, so I expect gaming to be fine.

Don't forget it's also a very silent and thin laptop, so you are obviously going to sacrifice SOME cooling, but 80 is perfectly fine for a laptop with a non-ultrabook i7.

I'm not saying there aren't any better options out there, I'm just saying that the Acer Nitro I tested was absolutely fine.

Also, I don't hate HP. I just can't recommend their (consumer) products at this point in time (as I said, pro notebooks are pretty good, but pricey). The second they get their shit together, I'll be totally fine with recommending their stuff to people.
