Holy shit its a lot of work to build a PC for the first time if you haven't planned properly,
Ok just to explain the title a bit "rat-rod PC": i basically screwed up when it came to my case and i didn't want to ruin it so well, i swapped it for a "piece or garbage" i basically was just hoarding this case and another case in case something like this ever happened, and it did so im glad i did but mom aint to happy :P well here i go!;

First of here is a list of the things in the picture, basically the stuff i was going to put in my PC;

1x Gigabyte G1 GTX970

1x I5 4960K

1x ASRock anniversary z97(the motherboard)

1x TPlink wireless card

The rest of the parts were taken from my old PC!(not in the picture tho)

And then the "victim" of this whole deal on its side, preparing for the operation

post-227720-0-93210300-1440444246_thumb.

the gutts:

and with the motherboard removed:

post-227720-0-70687200-1440448706_thumb.

here is what is going out, a GTX750TI and a FX-6300 with its mobo and cooler(and my relay sexy toes covered with socks ;P ) :

the new sexy stuff :D :

post-227720-0-34870500-1440448879_thumb.

ok there's a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG part here, were i realize that i cant remove the drive cadge even tho its screwed in, and i go and dig up the biggest freaking case i have, i had two and i had to make the choice between strange grey and front panel or a fan removable drive cadges and actual freaking airflow, something the other case lacked

so there was team grey huge freaking case, it had;

a front panel with some pretty badges
a working side panel
a on/off button with LED's by it and some USB ports
a LOT of room to do whatever the hell you wanted
about 5 years of dust in it :/

and there was team dark grey huge freaking case, it offered;

a somewhere around 80-90mm fan in the front of the case
some mesh to act as a basic filter for the singular fan
a semi working side panel
3 on/off buttons with LED's and all that shit
removable drive cadges with tool less installation of drives
SWAG
less dust
better installation alternatives for CD drive bays
aluminum instead of solid iron

keep in mind this is EVERYTHING they offered, if i didn't wright something in that list it probably didn't have it, they were striped out and stored under a table in my room for a year and they were dusty as hell when i first got them so that was a fun thing to do, i ended up going with team dark grey because the other case had a freaking SOLID piece of iron in the front, that looked nice but there was zero air flow, airflow + fan > front panel + no fan

somewhere around this part i the music i was blasting suddenly died out because my phone reached 0% battery so there are no further pictures of this unholy piece of PC building, i would have loved to show you the amazing job i did with the wiring, i basically used the new 970 as a cable clip and there were nothing to group the cables up with so i just shoved the excess were-ever there was space(not the brightest idea iv ever had it looks really shitty will tidy it up the next time i swap something that requires me to move something in the case, maybe. ) so here is the finished PC right after the first successful boot, everything just worked except for the power LED, it was backwards so i fixed that also one of my drives is not showing up, i don't really care about it its just 250GB that i just sort-of robbed from some PC parts box i had and i thought this drive will be a nice backup drive or something but it doesn't show so i have no clue, i can hear it spinning up like any other normal drive but nothing, even task manager finds it but not the file system :/ well im not here to dump my problems on this community just yet, that will probably be tomorrow :P

ok no more waiting here is the actual picture, got slightly carried away there:

post-227720-0-04576400-1440448926_thumb.

and that concludes the "Rat-Rod PC" i couldn't think of a better thing to name it but feel free to leave suggestions about it, another name i just came up with is "the sleeper" looks like a piece of poop, has beast hardware(sortof), have a good day or whatever and please leave a comet with some feedback, this is the first time ever i have built a PC so id love to know what i can improve on, like freaking planning, works great right now so i did something right then at least :P

Final specs:

processor: I5 4690K
grafics card: G1 GTX 970
RAM: 1x8GB of sexy red hyperX memmory goodness
storage: 1x60GB SSD, 1x1TB Toshiba HDD, 1x250GB WD HDD(currently not working properly :( )
mobo: ASRock anniversary z97
OS: Windows 10
PSU: a non modular 500W Cooler master PSU
cooling: sock Intel heat-sink and fan and a 80-90mm ish fan( this is were my money ended :/ )
case: i have no clue in hell what the shit it may be

performance is not something i haven't been able to test but the fact that im writing this on the PC in the build log can stand for something i guess, feels snappy and nice, loving Windows 10 but fsr even tho i have English selected as main language i cant use Cortana, the sole reson i really wanted windows 10(not really dx12 was the thing i wanted) so im rally freaking disappointed to all hell

well if you read all this and you haven't given up yet this is were the post ends, i simply have no more time, i have school in 8h and i want some sleep, but il stick around for a bit and reply to everyone i guess!

thats what i sortof did, tho the really bright blue LEDs on the 970 kinda reveals it also the fact that it dosent curently have a side plate nor a front plate, so you can see the SSD mounted in the drive bay and the 970 isnt as i said not verry stealth, but that dude took it to the extream
