Upgraded from r9 280 to GTX 970 no fps increase

bmxanrchy127

I recently upgraded from my r9 280 to gtx 970 because i wanted to be overkill on gpu. I receive no fps increase with the new gpu so i am wondering what is lacking within my system (rig in signature) ? Recently got into the pc community as i built this setup in march. Looking to watercool in near future so would like to get my computer at a good standing before i do it. Thanks in advance

Since this goes along with the general theme of the topic I might as well ask this here. Think a 4670k will bottleneck a 980ti when I get it? Planning on picking one up soon.

Nope, it won't bottleneck 2 of them in SLI either. 3 however would be a problem.

i figured it was cpu wasnt suprised. Was gonna order a new one tonight and new mobo and power supply so figured id see what everyone had to say. was thinking about the 8350 but not sure yet. Kind of want to overkill everything as then i could run high fps at close to full settings.

CPU is bottlenecking. And 970 isn't "overkill" haha.

but will it bottleneck a 970 at all?

6300 will, that's another story

It won't bottleneck at 1080p and on higher res even a i3 won't bottleneck

8350 will be the same way, two more cores isn't gonna solve anything.

a 8350 is the same as the 6300 just a extra two cores and different clock speeds. Which makes no effective difference in gaming so the bottleneck will still be there. Intel is easily the better choice

AMD adding an extra module doesn't make that much of a difference at all. And the IPC is the same.
