Is this build good?

T_Dawg

Hey guys, I am soon going to attempt to build my first custom PC. I've been doing alot of research and that's when I stumbled upon Linus's videos a couple weeks back. Ever since then I've been trying to decide on parts for an ok gaming PC. I'm going to list all the parts I am currently planning to buy and maybe you guys could help me with some recommendations. My budget is 600-700 USD not including peripherals. Thank you.

Case: Corsair Carbide series 100r silent edition $59.99

Processor:AMD FX-6300 Vishera $104.99

Motherboard:ASUS M5A97 PLUS $69.99

Power supply: Corsair CX430M $49.99

Graphics card: ASUS GeForce GTX 750Ti $129.99

RAM: Corsair Vengance 8GB $52.99

Storage: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 $50.99

Optical drive: ASUS 24x DVD burner $19.99

Grand total before taxes: $628.09

Usually I'd see an obvious fault in a proposed build, but everything seems pretty solid here.  :)

you could but you'll get so much more out of a i5 in any CPU based game, anything is better then an almost 3 year old AMD CPU

You'll need a better PSU, like a 500 or 600W. And no sense getting a modular one. Standard is just fine and cheaper. Just not worth the price for a modular.

Also, upgrade the CPU to an FX-8350 (if using an AMD chip). 6300 is useless in my opinion. Oh and for a gaming PC you'll need a better CPU cooler than stock. Get a Hyper D92 or Hyper 212 EVO.

Go with a cheaper case such as a Cooler Master Elite 430. No need to pay $60 for a mid-tower. Keep it at or below $50 I'd say.

If you have any budget left, get a better GPU. If not, I suppose a 750Ti will be fine but don't try running new titles at Ultra settings ._. you'll kill your computer.

Everything else looks good.

I know it's a Z97 I'm just feeling lazy and the PSU is a tad overkill but again I'm lazy and it allows headroom

If you are like me who lives somewhere hot, I would consider getting Hyper 212. You can Save if you go cheaper for the case. Would suggest to get a 250 GB SSD tho.
Good luck
