That's actually quite a fair bit deeper than it seems. 

Some countries are just too fucked up for foreign aid, and the aid supplies tend to get stuck with militant forces in control of the area. Now those people, sorry, but aid is doing more harm than good. We just gotta back off and let them slug it out for themselves.

Essentially summarized my stance as well. I'd only add that if said man turned to bite the hand that initially fed him then he should be terminated...

Yes quite and I seriously doubt that altruism is the true motive behind the whole concept of foreign aid in any event.

with the amount of money the UK gives out in AID you'd expect 1: that the 3rd world countries would be some what developed by now if it wasn't for corruption 2: you'd expect the UKs own economy to be strong and everyone living above the breadline before we spend money helping other...

 

the billions we give away should be used to help our own people.. home the homeless, make cheaper houses for first time buyers... 

 

Seriously the only AID we need to give is condoms.. there wouldn't be millions of children in 3rd world countries starving or dying of thirst if there wasn't children... 

 

Its like all the migrants in france.. one went on the news and said if she didnt get into England her child would die... well.. if i was poor and couldn't afford a child i would have one... problem solved. yes i know theres exceptions and rape is prevalent.. but we can't all assume that every child in need in the world is a product of rape..

It shouldn't happen.  At all.  Any form of aid should be obliterated.  Let the strongest survive, populate, and dominate.  Let the weak die out.  If we don't do this, the human race WILL perish.

ok then if they dont like the condoms we should just pollute the water with drugs to lower mens fertility. if they dont like that then they can go back to drinking water polluted with disease instead..

Foreign aid is an important component of 'soft power', and helping developing countries develop, opens up new commercial opportunities. Unfortunately it doesn't always work out, corrupt governments may spend aid money on either themselves, or arms to ensure they stay in power. It does do a lot of good in certain instances, but from a UK perspective it does need more oversight to check where it is actually ending up.

I suggest that we tell them to keep their war to their selves and just don't bother us at all.  They will die out eventually.  Then we can come in and take all the oil.

I'm oddly for the chinese method where they actually send some of their people to settle it like the western frontier of old. settling improving road networks and developing an actual economy

It's good and the people need it. I am just worried that in oppressive regimes the aid is taken by the people with power, leaving the people that need it without food and water.

Not the biggest fan as we do nothing to insure that it goes to who we intended it to go to. Half the time it gets jacked by warlords or put to use by corrupt governments.

 

For food and medical aid I'd say armed convoy to insure that say a warlord in Africa doesn't get access to it. For money aid I'd say have complete monetary oversight for countries receiving it so they don't get to cheat us and their people, or something like that.

 

With the amount of food, medical, and monetary aid these countries received over the last umpteen years you'd expect them to be 2nd world nations at least.
