x99 vs z170 Build

Hey guys, For about 8 or so months I've been planning this build and in exactly seven days I planned on buying all my parts (Massachusetts has a tax free holiday next weekend). However with the launch of Skylake I'm a bit concerned so I'm asking for help on whether to jump to Skylake.

I'll be using this build to game and maybe stream, but mostly gaming.

You posted 2 same builds, but X99 is not good for gaming.

Z170 build is good, I would get cheaper MBO though, also unless you plan to SLI 850W is overkill.

x99 isn't bad for gaming either, just not cost effective.

Sure it is. It may not be the best value, and it's overkill, but it's still good for gaming.

Well it is usually a bit worse than Z97 or Z170 so why pay more for less.

Theoretically, yes. However, the GPU is going to be the limiting factor in most cases.

Only few games will use more than 4 cores.

So? It doesn't make it bad for gaming.

Higher frequency of 6700K makes it better

For gaming, you really don't need the 6 cores on the 5820K, even when streaming. However, if they are around the same price when you go to buy them, you may as well go for it.

If they're at this price, I'd just stick with Skylake, but get a motherboard that isn't gimmicky, overpriced and nearly as much as your CPU.

Fixed it.

I'd go for X99 since it is only a little more expensive although you won't see much if any performance gain over the 6700k in gaming. Probably would help with streaming but if you were super serious about streaming you would have a second PC dedicated for that.

You may as well save your money and go with the z170. Get a cheaper motherboard though, those high end ASUS boards are pretty overpriced.

Again, theoretically. Games are going to be GPU bound with either CPU, so the speed difference doesn't matter.

thats all chip specific as to what u can get out of it, dont make false accusations when u clearly dont know what u are talking about. you would have been better as wording it as bang for buck the 4 core at the minute as not many games utilise more than 4 cores

Sli 980ti's is the plan I just don't have the money on hand to purchase 2 right now, also this motherboard is one of the cheaper ones for z170 that also fits the color scheme of my build.
