Data caps? What is this? 1990?

Edit: After some researching I found out that my monthly data cap is 64.8TB, 25MB/s x 60 x 60 x 24 x 30 = 64.800.000

im not the only one using more than 100GB data then :)

lol 100gb mobile. for home it must be crazy. my 90Mb/s (11ish MB) is almost always saturated. looking at my router page to see if I can check the usage.

Some friends on Steam that live in another part of the country laugh me out because I have a 200Mb/s connection and they have Gigabit for 45€/month.

I haven't had a data cap since 2002. Data caps never really caught on in Denmark. Even my mobil data is without a data cap.

It also makes no sense to have a data cap. Data isn't a finite resource.

Neither did they really caught on in here. Even though rural areas might have slow internet, none of them have data caps. Some very low-end mobile data plans have caps of "reserved data", meaning that you'll get the advertised speeds until you exceed it, but if you go over it, the service won't stop, it just slows down somewhat. However even low-end mobile data plans have unlimited data now.

Our broadband is 20 down 1 up, costing 40€ / month (no fiber coming to this little village. It's not profitable enough for ISPs here to do such madness), and my mobile data plan is ~2 down ~1 up, costing 10€ / month, with unlimited data, not sure about calls and texts, but I never make calls anyway... lol

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

im excited for college. gigabit connection, only issue is dorms are wifi and on the N standard, so your artificially throttled. for 100$ you can get ethernet put in. that would be hella nice to have gigabit. maybe host game servers as some side $$$

At home it's 10 down and 1 up and it's uncapped.

At school it's 0.00000000000000000000000001 bytes per century lol

Coincidently my carrier's 3G failed as well, they seem to have even made fake accounts in twitter to cover up the mess judging by the tweets of these accounts . I would have given them the benefit of the doubt if they perhaps chose to reply to my complains before.

that's my 4G in my house... The tower was never built to handle it, it barely was capable of 3G, now it doesn't support 3G whatsoever.

I live in Georgia, and I have a 300GB/m datacap. Yesterday my friend told me of a wonderland known as South Carolina in which people don't have data caps, instead they pay for speed. Do you guys know of this wonderland?

It has nothing to do with your State of residence, it is all about your contract with your ISP.  I'm guessing you get your internet from Comcast.

In Mtl, Quebec, my ISP is technically unlimited but they actually have a data cap of 75GB/week, if you go over they throttle your speed for 24h and you're good to go for another week ... so that would mean a 300GB/m cap??

If you want amazing internet, move to Chattanooga TN ... gigabit fiber optic for 70$/m

Well I get around 6mb/s but I have a data cap of 1024GB (Is it even possible with this speed to max my cap?) also Austraila. Depending on ISP's if you're capped or not but everyone gets the same speed unless you're lucky enough to have NBN co visit your house (Government ran fiber installers)

Data caps? What is this? 1990?

Edit: After some researching I found out that my monthly data cap is 64.8TB, 25MB/s x 60 x 60 x 24 x 30 = 64.800.000

So...do you actually have 25MB/s or 25mb/s?  Big difference there.

EDIT: Answered elsewhere.

Yes, it is possible to exceed your cap.  If you downloaded at a constant 6mbps, it would take 16 days to reach it.

Well I doubt that I will reach the cap anyway I average around 800gb a month on that connection so im not too worried.

Thankfully the NY metro area doesn't. God knows there would be a shit storm if anyone decided to cap internet usage.
