Yes but you can still get malware for it right now. If it was Apple's main selling point then boy oh boy

Do we really have to get into this whole Windows vs OSX debate right now?

I mean if the selling point to a $1,000+ laptop is the trackpad by all means go for it. On the other hand you could just use one of these (like most people do anyways with all laptops)

 

And that's the thing with windows notebooks. You have to get accesserie after accesserie to make it acutally work well, or at least usable. With Macbooks, or most Apple products in general, you get a working ecosystem you don't have to worry about.

You mean you subsidized the cost with your tuition.  :P

 

Anyway, not sure why this is a big deal. The Google guys are often seen with MacBooks and I bet a large majority of them dual boot some form of Linux.

Considering out of basically any company in existence they have the most vested intrest in Linux, I really don't agree. Obviously some deal with it and indeed most servers these days are Linux but few (and none that I have met) actually want to be using Linux distributions (provided they have a choice.)

Note that "want" is not the same thing as "do".

We use Linux, Windows and Os X where I work, mainly on a project basis (although all our supercomputer clusters are Linux ofc).

Obviously I was exaggerating slightly, but very very very few companies have it people even familiar with Linux let alone offering it as either as an equal or preferred operating system over Windows or Os X.

And for any 10(0) companies I name for each exception, you will continue to believe that there is no pattern and no systematic avoidance of Linux distributions.

Seriously. What do you want me to say? Everyone these days uses Linux for clusters/servers (well at least for HPC applications...) , but for personel.... Few companies even have any sort of expertise with Linux let alone full scale implementations. Ironically so called "IT" people are no exception to the general populous's ignorance when it comes to Linux.

Hell my workplace is a great example. ANL is a semi-DOE facility and almost every engineer here has at least passing experience with Linux (as is the case at most universities) but yet very few people use Linux as daily drivers here and IT support for it is one of many reasons (although IT was more annoyed when people brought in computers upgraded to Windows 10 on day 1 and asked for help...)

Basically anyone that needs Unix terminal locally uses OS X (myself unwillingly included) and everyone else just uses Windows and ssh's to their group's supercomputer cluster when they need to submit a job or compile a code.

Because both windows and linux suck, osx at least has some neat UI and features.

Linux is just bunch of crap where you cant find a single driver.

Windows 8 is a mix of crap with metro, windows 10 is just NSA mass spyware.

 

OSX is doing much better.Looking at Yosemite and upcoming El Capitan they blow windows ass into pieces.

If OSX could be used on any PC and all games would be supported on OSX id switch in no time.At least apple has proper designer and new features put in their new OS's.

Unlike windows which adds bloatware and spyware instead.

 

I finally understood why people love their macs so much, if your are not a gamer mac seems so much better.

Im going to try an mac os intall see if i can dual boot it.

Thinkpads are really expensive aswell. I got a MBPr 2015 as it was 400$ cheaper than a similarly speced Thinkpad x260

I'm just saying that it's one of the main features osx has to offer. That's just basically what most mac users want. A system that works and that doesn't have to be scanned for malware over and over again.

I don't have an anti virus or malware software, and I've never had malware/viruses.

 

 

BTW I checked once with one of those one off exes to see if I had any, and 0 popped up. You have to be pretty stupid to get viruses nowadays, unless they're clever (which I've never seen)

Maybe people who want to looks classy and smart ?(Don't take this seriously)

 

OS X has some features that makes working on it more comfortable ... I guess that's why they chose it ... 

... Life is a game and the checkpoints are your birthday , you will face challenges where you may not get rewarded afterwords but those are the challenges that help you improve yourself . Always live for tomorrow because you may never know when your game will be over ... I'm totally not going insane in anyway , shape or form ... I just have broken English and an open mind ...
