AMD Cheap(ish) Build - Need Help! - Sorry admins if wrong thread.

I am new to this community! I am here today for some help and advice, not really to show off :).

I have recently ordered this build. I am wondering if i will experience any issues with particular parts (mostly the cpu, so called bottlenecking ) and I am wondering what i should look to do in the future in-order to improve the build. (I am not thinking of looks, more as performance. I couldn't care what my pc looks like as long as it performs.)

Specifications:

CPU: AMD Fx 8320 - 8 core - OC@4ghz (should i OC more?)

GPU: Asus R9 290 - Direct Cu II OC 4gb

Motherboard: Msi 970 Gaming

Memory: 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 Ram (little bit over-kill i know.)

I am not looking to game at 4k or anything however i am just wondering if i will experience performance issues on 1080p/1440p on games like GTA V, CSGO, Arma 3 + 2.

I also am going to order a 144ms monitor - any recommendations?

- Thanks

You won't have the greatest performance possible in titles, but for the most part you will be okay. However, ARMA II and III tend to run crappy on AMD chips due to the low IPC.

Main Rig: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) KLEVV CRAS XR RGB DDR4-3600 | Motherboard: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX | Storage: 512GB SKHynix PC401, 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus, 2x Micron 1100 256GB SATA SSDs | GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB | Cooling: ThermalTake Floe 280mm w/ be quiet! Pure Wings 3 | Case: Sliger SM580 (Black) | PSU: Lian Li SP 850W

Server: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Crucial DDR4 Pro | Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES | Storage: 128GB Samsung PM961, 4TB Seagate IronWolf | GPU: AMD FirePro WX 3100 | Cooling: EK-AIO Elite 360 D-RGB | Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow (White) | PSU: Seasonic Focus GM-850

Miscellaneous: Dell Optiplex 7060 Micro (i5-8500T/16GB/512GB), Lenovo ThinkCentre M715q Tiny (R5 2400GE/16GB/256GB), Dell Optiplex 7040 SFF (i5-6400/8GB/128GB)

ok thankyou. i am mainly a csgo player so it wouldn't be the end of the world if i couldn't run other games so greatly.

Don't buy that CPU. In general people say "AMD is cheaper" but that's just stupid, comparing company to company. You have to compare product to product based on the time when you are looking to buy. Right now the 8320 is 4 years old and costs as much as the 1 year old haswell i5-4460. The i5 performs much better at about the same cost

What is your budget?

Name comes from anagramed sticker for "TUF Inside" (A sticker that came with my original ASUS motherboard)

Due to the badly made game*

How many CPUs can ever keep that game above 60fps constant?

Well in theory my budget is fairly high regarding a new cpu, to be honest as long as i don't top $400 then it's not too much of an issue.

If you already ordered it then there's not much to say except if you ever plan on upgrading your pc you're essentially going to have to build a whole new pc. AMD doesn't have an upgrade path like intel does. not to mention when it comes to the FX chips pretty much every chip above yours are just overclocked versions of the same cpu.

As for the ram, you're wasting your money getting 32gb of ram. Only reason to get that is if you're a content creator, but if you're a content creator you don't go with AMD cpus

The 32gb was from my brothers pc, i was not gonna pay like $220 for ram :) Although i understand what you are saying and in future i may switch to intel (obviously changing motherboard etc.) But for now i will see how it goes. i7 4770k? i5 4690k? (i think they are the ones off the top of my head, correct me if i am wrong)

You will want dx12  when windows 10 comes out. DX11 only allows one core to communicate with the gpu.

Also you might want to try crysis 3 since it will use all 8 cores. Its like 16 bucks at walmart.com

I just got the same cpu but with an asrock 970 board and r9 380, Kinda wanted the 290 but I submitted a budget

to the finance committee (ie WIFE) based on an fx-6300 r7 370 build so I didn't want to push my luck:)

should be ok, if you can i would have gotten a 990FX m/board. still if your just running one gpu and a 290 should be a nice match with that cpu.

get a good cpu cooler and it will be fine, also to make transfer rates fast as possible use SSD or hybrid drives.

got to love Asus components

You need a Intel CPU for 144fps gaming dude! (CS:GO is fine!)

AMD works fine for 60 but not 144!!! (DX12 may help the FX but still...)
