In my experience, there's no such thing. Healthy meals can be cheap but usually are very costly in cooking time unless you wanna end up eating tasteless crap everyday.

I don't mind prep time, but I'm at the point where nothing sounds good. I just eat when I'm starving and it's not good food.

Cooked rice, chicken, and some sort of vegetable

Rice may be replaced with potatoes, chicken with beef.

Food does not have to taste good, it just has to be not disgusting.

Also, oatmeal. Very cheap, and healthy, just get some low fat yogurt with it

I run into the same issues because I just don't know how to cook new, interesting and healthy things. I have a friend who's a chef and he's always telling me "Oh you can try delicious healthy things like Pho! It only takes like 6 fucking hours to cook it and I'm sure you can easily find Vietnamese spices near you!"

Yeah sadly junk food it's cheaply available within walking distance and doesn't takes me all that much time. Though it does takes away years from my life in unhealthiness sadly.

Just go for something like grilled steaks and whatever bullshit vegetables you can steam and add butter to them, not the best choice but beats eating pizzas and hamburgers and it's easy to do.

Learn to love rice if you want cheap. Buy a large bag of rice, as rice works with so many other things. Rice and beef, chicken, and there are so much more. Not to mention all of the seasoning that you can add to it.

Dont forget vegtables, you need some vitamins

Rice isn't as healthy as some may lead you to believe. In fact is as big of a no-no for a diabetic as pasta for example.

Well I'm off tomorrow and I thought I would go to the store. I'm really burnt out on my current convenience food diet that I bring for lunches at work and I'm looking for some ideas.

Things I eat allot:

Pb and Jelly

Lunch meat sandwiches

Breakfast bars.

Do you like Tuna Salad sandwhiches?

Take a can of tuna, drained, into a bowl, mix with a tablespoon or two of Mayo (The real stuff, not that evil, nasty shit called "Miracle Whip"), grab some bread and voila.

I actually keep a loaf of bread, a bunch of tuna, and some peanut butter in my desk at work. In the fridge I have a jar of mayo. The company provides plates, utensils, can opener, etc.

does your store or is there a store nearby with a good asian section?

I keep saying Soba is the ideal "GAMER" food. its CHEEEEEP quick and easy. also it doesn't need to be hot so you can take a few bites. game then go back to eating in a lull in combat.

at a store here in Canada which is very blue collar and not special in any way at all has a great asian section with Cheap soba noodles. for $6 (thanks to the tanking Canadian Dollar) I can get 1.5 kilograms of buckwheat noodles. and for $10 I can get the sauce for it that usually lasts me 6 months. from that sauce other REALLY REALLY easy meals can be made it is not a unitasker.

instructions:

boil water toss some noodles into it. boil till noodles soften

drain noodles and rinse under cold water. drain

put noodles on a plate

pour a small amount of sauce into a bowl dilute it with cold water till it tastes not so salty

...EAT. dip noodles in sauce then eat

optional wasabi in the sauce or some 5 spice chili powder.

also don't just pour the sauce over the noodles and let them sit like that. it makes them overloaded with saltiness and the noodles get too waterlogged.

you've gotta be full retard to be unable to do this.... never go full retard.

if you want a Great instructional and entertaining show watch Good Eats by Alton Brown I believe its now available on netflix he loves to go full science nerd. use Manly garage power tools in the kitchen and explain everything in a fun easy to absorb manner. its like techquickie for the kitchen.

There's no such thing as cheap healthy meals. As far as value goes, you can't go wrong with chicken breast, eggs and rice. Then again, you always have the option of going vegan - though you'll be depriving your body of essential nutrients.

Always remember, you are what you eat.

LocoMoco.

hamburger and gravy over rice.... its so cheap

I usually make a large amount of hamburger patties and freeze them ground beef is cheap when bought in bulk

you can just leave the ground beef alone or add fillers to it I use fillers because it makes it juicier. but I'll lay out the easy method first

mix eggs into the beef and season with salt and pepper. form patties

cook rice

fry burgers till done when its cooked thru put the burgers on a bowl of rice and leave it in the microwave (my favorite place to keep things from cooling off)

fry an egg or do sunny side up till its still runny and put that on top of the burger

the same pan with the crusty burger bits add a bit of oil or butter or whatever fat you want and a couple tablespoons of flour and chicken soup powder mix till flour incorporates with the fat/oil and cook it for a minute then add a liquid. water or milk or chicken stock cook that down scraping the pan to get the crusties off. cook till it reduces down nice and thick. put a bunch of freshly ground pepper on top and pour gravy over the burger/rice mix.

for juicier burgers I finely chop up cabbage and caramelize onions to put into the ground beef. adding bread crumbs or chop up the heels of bread into it.

Just grab some of the standard veggies (bell peppers, asparagus, spinach) and throw some protein (ground beef, eggs, pork, etc) in there. I usually try to do a 1 to 1 ratio. So if I put eggs and pork in a dish, I'll throw in spinach and peppers. Than just add salt and pepper to the mix. It wont look good, but it will taste good and be healthy. Also you can do asian style and throw all that over a bowl of rice to amek it more filling. Eating healthy is about what you eat and how much you eat. Good luck man!
