Any LG G Flex 2 or Snapdragon 810 users here?

asim1999

Hey guys, as you may know, EE arent letting me return my M4 Aqua, however, my mum has let me have her upgrade until we can trash the phone. With her upgrade i can afford a G Flex 2. Is this phone good and how does the Snapragon 810 perform? I have heard that the 810 gets too hot, can any 810 uers clarify this?

Also, i could go with the Z3 Compact, if the G Flex sucks

However, my vision is not that great (refer to the Embarrassing Injuries and Illnesses thread if you want to know how bad it is)

my galaxy s4 gets up to 68*C almost every day. I doubt the overheating is as big of a deal as some make it out to be. the lg gflex2 is what I plan on my next phone, that or a iphone 6+

I don't have a phone with an 810 (only one with an 808)

But I did use the G Flex 2, and one thing I can say is this...

...Wait until they sort out the lag issues in the UI. It's far from smooth and if you put it right next to the G4, the G4 runs circles all over it around the UI, despite having a Snapdragon 808, which seems weaker on paper.

The Flex 2 hasn't overheated since release, but it's performance in Antutu is laughable, unfortunately. While it gets a high score of nearly 50k initially, after a while, it drops to 35k, whilst it's cousin, the G4, maintains a respectable 45-50k after 5 benchmarks in a row. This is due to heavy SoC throttling, once again, related to heating issues with the 810. It may not be so bad now, but I still suggest holding out for either a price drop on the G4 or any update for the Flex 2 that brings LG UX 4.0, which is a much better skin performance-wise.

The Workhorse (AMD-powered custom desktop)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X | GPU: MSI X Trio GeForce RTX 2070S | RAM: XPG Spectrix D60G 32GB DDR4-3200 | Storage: 512GB XPG SX8200P + 2TB 7200RPM Seagate Barracuda Compute | OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

The Portable Workstation (Apple MacBook Pro 16" 2021)

SoC: Apple M1 Max (8+2 core CPU w/ 32-core GPU) | RAM: 32GB unified LPDDR5 | Storage: 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD | OS: macOS Monterey

The Communicator (Apple iPhone 13 Pro)

SoC: Apple A15 Bionic | RAM: 6GB LPDDR4X | Storage: 128GB internal w/ NVMe controller | Display: 6.1" 2532x1170 "Super Retina XDR" OLED with VRR at up to 120Hz | OS: iOS 15.1

So then a z3 compact?

That might be your best bet unless a phone with the Snapdragon 820 comes out soon.

Heyyo,

What about getting the regular Sony Xperia Z3? Sports the SD801 which is a great SoC and the screen is great. If you have vision issues you'd probably benefit too from the larger screen size.

Heyyo,
