So my boyfriend has a Nvidia 550 and is looking to upgrade. He's only looking to spend roughly about $150. Can anyone recommend some?

Used 280X perhaps? Otherwise get a 270 and upgrade later.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Used 7970 is your best bet, unless you want new then a R9 280.

I suggest the same. :)

Thanks for the help guys, I recommended to him the EVGA 750ti. I think any higher and it would be bottle necked by his semi-ancient system.

Out of all the suggestions chose the worst one... unless he has a really low-end PSU, 750Ti isn't worth the money.

what if he doesn't want to deal with the crappy AMD drivers?

You mean the ones that have been giving me (and others by the looks of it) less troubles then the recent Nvidia drivers?

His PC is kind of crap and 150 is basically his limit of what he's willing to pay and he wants it new.

If you can wait, wait until the 950 and 950 ti come out, it will be well worth it.

When are those set to come out? I also kind of doubt they'd be in a good range for him.
