Some ridiculous prices. Need opinions

At work, lurking around the usual sites when I saw these:

 

PlayStation 2 slim for $14 (working console, broken controller, couple of games thrown in aswell)

PlayStation 2 phat for $28 (working console, two controllers, couple of games thrown in aswell)

 

Aside the fact that those prices are ridiculous and dubious, is buying a PS2 even worth it these days?

 

TBH I'd buy the cheap one just to have one in the collection

If they are worth it...was there anything you wanted to play on ps2 you didnt? If yes then ya of course if you intend to get them, if not no.

I'd say yes, grab the phat. You can mod it and throw an HDD in there. It's very nice to have.

The fat (and original) PS2 can take a 3.5" HDD and just were the better version, so get it.

There's maybe a handful of titles I'd actually play. And $20 is pretty much a week's worth of coffee (give or take). Wouldn't set me back all that much (would need to figure out if/how I can connect it to a monitor since I haven't had a TV in over 10 years)

Well in that case you'll probably get a better experience compared to your old PC's from the fat PS2.

Found a PS2 phat for $12. No controllers tho. Might go up to like $30 for a phat if it has at least a working controller
