I'd get a 256 gig and install your OS/mostly used applications on it and use the 1TB black for storage.

In terms of speed, my Windows 7 Prof. installation from post to desktop (with password and plenty of startup applications, on a Crucial M4) is around 8-12 seconds. It's mega worth it.

I held off on buying an SSD for a long time but now I will never go back to running my primary system's OS on a mechanical drive.  Boot speed with Windows 8 from post to usability is 9 seconds for me and I don't have one of the fastest drives.

SSD prices are dropping fast. A GB is already less than a $, but I still consider them a luxury, cause I can't afford them. If you can though you should definitely get one.

this is exactly the reason i refuse to use them.

I work as an ICT at a school. with slwo computers.

I have enough issues going from my PC to the old dells. any faster at home and I'll literally cry when at work!

Edit: actually i am considering buying a msata for caching :P

I'm in the same boat,

I'm running raid 0 2x700GB samsung hdds and I'm pretty happy with them,

But i have been deliberating getting a kingston hyperx 3k for a little while, but the price is really putting me off, has i don't have a lot of money to spend, and i think to myself,

"do i really need my PC to boot a few seconds faster? and do i need that extra 3 seconds its going to take to open an application?"

If the drives where bigger eg (500gb, for around 100quid) it would be a no brainer, but £80 for 120gb, i dunno guys, doesn't seem like great value to me.

I think i may end up raiding 3x2tb seagate drives instead, i know it won't be as fast but 6tb running at fair old rate with Raid, seems better value to me
