Gigabyte G1 GTX 970 Overclocking Results!

IMadeYouReadThis
Go to solution Solved by Tim Drake,

Considering I had to BIOS mod my MSI one to get that high, yes. That is awesome :)

P.S Push till you can't anymore then lower it a tiny bit. That's what I do.

I just overclocked my Gigabyte G1 GTX 970 to +150 MHz GPU Clock and for the memory clock I set it to +450 MHz. I tried this out in Uningine Heaven and got about 1550 MHz of GPU Clock and the temp was only 71 Celsius! Is this good? I really hope it is because if I try to go a little higher with the GPU or Memory clock my driver stops responding.

CPU: Intel i7 4700 GPU: Gigabyte G1 GTX 970 Storage: 1TB Western Blue RAM: 8 GB GDDR3 Operating Software: Windows 10 Power Supply: XFX XTR 550W Case: Shitty HP Case From Old Pre Built PC

You get different scores depending on how you configure it to run, and since we don't know how you configured it and the configuration that a previous user suggested is the standard for Unigine Heaven, we can't tell if 4831 is a good score or not.

Use those setting i posted so we can compare. I don't care if your score is 465467831265764, useless if it doesn't use the same setting.

Use 3DMark to test it.

The first time I tested my G1 970 it was hitting 1580 on heaven without overvoltage, and it was working like a champ with 2+ loops.

Then I fired up 3DMark and BOOM.

Now I have 1540-1550 Core and 3950Memory stock voltage.

Test your OC, test it a lot. Use Heaven, Valley, 3DMark Firestrike and Sky Diver

Game a lot and see if it's rock stable.

If you play Source games be very careful, those games don't like OC, GTA V runs fine 4+ hours on 1550Mhz on my card but L4D2 and CS:GO crash with that settings.

They aren't that demanding, so the GPU drops clocks. And because you OCed it, the whole boost table shifted and your voltages for lower clocks are too low. You can find more info over at OCN in the 970 onwer's club thread.

i7 9700K @ 5 GHz, ASUS DUAL RTX 3070 (OC), Gigabyte Z390 Gaming SLI, 2x8 HyperX Predator 3200 MHz
