Simple: if you want to lose weight, change your diet. Low fat and almost no sugar. Also, your calorie intake must be inferior to your required calorie intake. Example, if your body needs 2300 calories to keep it functioning, eat 2000. Do some research on that, it's quite hard to explain. But you WILL lose weight doing that. For it to work even better, add compound movements to your physical training routine. That means deadlifts, squats (most important), bench press, bent-over rows and overhead presses. You should try the 5x5 program, Elliott Hulse explains it really well in one of his videos. I hope you take my advice because trust me, I have spent an extensive amount of time researching fitness and I'm also a gym bro.

 

Anyway, that's the recipe to cutting, or weight loss if you prefer.

 

PS: Cardio is bullshit, don't listen to people who tell you doing cardio is how you lose weight, because it's not. Do cardio to build up your running endurance, not to lose weight, because it won't work. I recommend jump rope, it's much better and more amusing than running.

Also, your comment about cardio being bullshit... Cardiovascular exercises will inevitably burn calories; thus, will help you lose weight...? I mean, cardio alone, then no, but it's certainly not bullshit, and you just recommended he does jump ropes as it's more amusing than running, so is it BS or not?

Cardio is important for me (badminton is a very fast game) jump ropes are very useful for me (coach says so, never looked into why)

I'm 5 ft 10 too, my weight fluctuates from 58 to 60Kg, I used to be 73 kg, a bit fat, but since lost that all through swimming, strict dieting. Now I'm trying to bulk, build lean mass using free weights which is going well for me. I should of introduced lifting when I was cutting, I lost my previous muscle, now have to build it back up. Protein and carbs is key for me especially when lifting. Simple tip OP: Stay away from unhealthy snacks, half what you eat but make sure it meets your daily intake otherwise you will be going for an unhealthy way of losing weight which is somewhat I did by accident mid way through diet.

for me I keep a bag of oatmeal next the computer and as weird as it sounds when hunger pangs attack me I scarf a spoonful of the dry stuff in my mouth. to start to get used to doing that you could try dipping a stick into peanut butter and then dip that into the oatmeal... instant ghetto nutrigrain bar on a stick.

the other thing I've been doing.... and is SUPER UBER CHEAP is to take a head of cabbage and shred it into paper thin slices and put that into a bucket of water and keep that in the fridge changing the water every 3 days.... if it lasts that long. and before every meal you just scarf as much as much of that cabbage as you can stand with a salad dressing.

Cardio burns the calories that you ate in surplus let's say. If you usually eat a lot every day and one day you do a lot of cardio, all the calories that you consumed and at the end of the day will probably be lower than your maintenance, thus why most people think cardio makes you lose weight.

It's a caloric deficit which makes you lose weight... Which can be achieved by doing cardio to burn calories...

If you don't eat like shit you don't need to do cardio. Besides, if you eat shit, all the cholesterol is going to go into your veins and it'll clog them and eventually you'll encounter some health problems. Count your fucking calories and you won't have to do any cardio. Simple as that.

You're right, you don't need it to lose weight and to lose weight all you need to do is count your calories and be in a caloric deficit. 

Cardio is bullshit for everyone who wants to cut assuming you count your calories, which is essentially what you're supposed to do to cut weight, If not, you're doing it wrong.

 

 

OP, you'll need a scale to count your calories. With that, there are plenty of fitness apps that you can download off the Play Store/App Store which can help you count calories. With that' you'll become shredded. Also, if you want a six pack, check this video out. It really works, as I have gotten one off the video. Don't do a single fucking situp. Situps are a TOTAL waste of time. The plank isn't however. What I recommend doing to develop the lower abs (the hardest part to develop of your abs) is doing a plank and have a friend add a plate to your lower back (at least 25lbs).

 

 

Anyway, you don't have to do that, you can just do these two exercises EVERY time you go to the gym (I used to do this 5 times a week, consecutively).

 

 

The cable situp will build your upper abs like a motherfucker.

The secret is to not eat as much. Simply eat slower for the first week then eat less and less until you can eat a lot less and still get full. Having braces is also a good way to loose weight

Cardio is bullshit for everyone who wants to cut assuming you count your calories, which is essentially what you're supposed to do to cut weight, If not, you're doing it wrong.

OP, you'll need a scale to count your calories. With that, there are plenty of fitness apps that you can download off the Play Store/App Store which can help you count calories. With that' you'll become shredded. Also, if you want a six pack, check this video out. It really works, as I have gotten one off the video. Don't do a single fucking situp. Situps are a TOTAL waste of time. The plank isn't however. What I recommend doing to develop the lower abs (the hardest part to develop of your abs) is doing a plank and have a friend add a plate to your lower back (at least 25lbs).

Anyway, you don't have to do that, you can just do these two exercises EVERY time you go to the gym (I used to do this 5 times a week, consecutively).

The cable situp will build your upper abs like a motherfucker.

I miss weighing 85kg :(

Knockin' on the 100 mark soon-ish and my weight doesn't seem to want to go down regardless of what/when/how much I eat or however much physical exercise I get done daily.

 

Currently on a diet consisting of fresh vegetables, grilled chicken breast and steamed fish (once a week). Since my job pretty much involves me sitting in a chair for nearly 8h/d I try to compensate with some light jogging (have got an issue with my left ankle), walking to/from work (~25 minute twice a day).

 

I've had a few friends recommend that I drink green tea to help my metabolism but I'm an Earl Grey guy so yeah.

 

As far as I can tell at the moment my weight's been stable-ish (1-2 kg -/+ variation) since I've started eating healthier (basically avoiding fatty food, fast food and most sugary products), I've cut down on my coffee intake (max 2 unsweetened coffees/day) and I'm slowly reducing my smoking (currently down from a pack/day to basically half, since I roll my own cigarettes now, which is cheaper and it satisfies my nicotine need for longer per ciggy)
