There is any Xeon processor better for gaming than 5960X?

Rlly tho a i5 4690k would only give u like 5 fps less tops unless ur doing tripple or quad sli

not really, I mean they are locked, and per thread performance is what you are looking for more than an insane number of threads

Shame too, because xeons are extremely well binned, would overclock like crazy

And the ones on LGA775 are proof of that (though my X5450 is sadly degraded).

if you want better gaming performance than a 5960x buy a 4790k

instead of more useless cores that games cant use you get faster cores that games will benefit from

some games that doesn't hold true. But I agree with the general sentiment.

Yeah a few games but unless ur rich i dont see how 1000$ more on a CPU is worth 5-10 fps, better to grab another GPU for that much money...

If gaming performance is what you're after, get some tight timing DDR3 with high frequency, like 2133 CL8, 2400 CL9 or something, and a 4790k.

Most games rely on only a few threads, and the 4790k with some decent ram and an overclock will have more single thread performance than the 5960x.

You can also OC the 4790k a lot higher, resulting in even more single thread performance.

Stuff:  i7 7700k @ (dat nibba succ) | ASRock Z170M OC Formula | G.Skill TridentZ 3600 c16 | EKWB 1080 @ 2100 mhz  |  Acer X34 Predator | R4 | EVGA 1000 P2 | 1080mm Radiator Custom Loop | HD800 + Audio-GD NFB-11 | 850 Evo 1TB | 840 Pro 256GB | 3TB WD Blue | 2TB Barracuda

I would agree more to push him to a quad core 8 thread i7 than an i5 like others suggested

I remember when I fell into the myth that Xeon was better than i7.

It is for specific things. If constant system uptime is critical, if you need many (>10) cores at low clock speeds, then they are much better than any i7.

For gaming, not so much. Unless you are running several different games all at the same time on a variety of VMs -- you might want a Xeon then.

There is any Xeon processor better for gaming than 5960X?

For gaming, 5960X is completely unnecessary for gaming, so... I guess the answer to your question is no.

Yes, thank you for been so attentious!

I want to do surround 1444p@144hz gaming if that is possible

Then go for a 5960x and overclock. Its the best CPU for 3 way SLI.

also the 4790k's TDP is much lower, allowing for higher overclocks in addition to the already higher frequency :)
