Do any of you use 7.1surround sound headphones

Does it help for perception in FPS games and do any of you use it?

Current Rig:   CPU: AMD 1950X @4Ghz. Cooler: Enermax Liqtech TR4 360. Motherboard:Asus Zenith Extreme. RAM: 8GB Crucial DDR4 3666. GPU: Reference GTX 970  SSD: 250GB Samsung 970 EVO.  HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB. Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro. PSU: Corsair RM1000X. OS: Windows 10 Pro UEFI mode  (installed on SSD)

Peripherals:  Display: Acer XB272 1080p 240Hz G Sync Keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB Brown Mouse: Logitech G502 RGB Headhet: Roccat XTD 5.1 analogue

two ears. once again. fake surround headphones are fake.

Good stereo already has surround effect on headphones.

I used the virtualized 7.1 in my Sennheiser HD 558 and it was great for movies.

For games I use Stereo only as it is waaaaaaay better. I mean by a LOT better than anything else. Stereo is the king baby.

7.1 makes sound perception actualy worse in games.

You're trading "gaming" marketing bullshit for sound quality when buying headphones with more than 2 drivers. If you really want to have 7.1, get it for any headphone with Razer Surround. That software creates virtual 7.1 surround sound for free. However it creates some latency so youre better off with a quality, "normal", headphone and use it without any software.

I like them just fine. As to the "FPS Potential" I'd say any head phones that have good sound quality and can easily allow for direction would be fine be it Stereo or 7.1.

Cause its a marketing trope... You can simulate surround on any shitty earpod you dont need multiple little "speakers" per earcup.

It may help with stereo imaging a bit, but you generally give up quite a bit in the sound quality department, as you cant really fit multiple 50mm drivers in a single earcup, and thus the drivers have to be much smaller.

Isnt just a pair of open back headphones better for the sense of positional audio.

i prefer headphone called ears they feel like rubber and they bleed if you rip them. get you the best bang for the buck sound quality

As far as gaming audio goes the vengeance 2000/2100 are quite good. Not very expensive, quite balanced, and the mic is very good

They are not great, from my own experience, can get a pair of DT770s for the same price which are way better for audio!

my vengeance 2000's were around 88 usd, but the DT770 on amazon is near enough 200 usd. Slight bit of a discrepancy there
