usb 3 maxing at 6mbs

My usb 3.0 hhd is only maxing at 6mbs and most of the time running at 4mps. Why is that?

Check your bios. 

 

Try update it to latest firmware. Check USB mode.

Glad that sorted out your speed issue. Just an FYI though, "4 mbs" actually means "4 Megabits per second", which equals 512 KB/s (Kilobytes per second).

 

You should write it as "4 MB/s" instead. Writing the "B" as a "Capital B" indicates Megabytes, where as a lower case "b" indicates Megabits. It might seem trivial, but in computing terms, it's really quite important to know, and to properly label, the differences between the two.
