Good quality headset for gaming?

Virtual01

Can anyone recommend a headset with a mic for gaming? Does not have to be a "gaming" headset but the non-gaming ones are probably ludicrously expensive.

Looking for something with good sound quality at all ranges, but emphasis on good bass. Mic quality isn't  as important. As long as my teammates can hear my words it's fine by me. Comfort is also important, I have a giant head (like George Lopez big) and don't want to feel like the headset is squeezing me. I will be using this for DOTA, so 7.1 surround sound blah blah doesn't matter, I'm not playing a shooter. I'd like something that will present minimal problems and last a long time.

Wireless is preferred but not mandatory.

Budget is up to $200.

I just got this headset last week, love it some much.

Sound whoring is a breeze, good sound quality to.

Logitech app has a equalizer to so you can tune it.

edit, with your budget you could probably get better, though if i had the money now, I wouldn't replace my g430

Might I suggest a good quality pair of headphones, (something like a pair of Audio technica's, or sennheissers), and a antlion modmic. Far better sound quality than the premium you'll get charged for a "gaming headset" and you'll have a product that'll last you a few years instead of cheap plastic.

Going wireless will get expensive if you're shopping for quality, as the only ones I'd feel comfortable recommending start at about 300AUD+.

Why the heck would you get a headset when you have $200?

At least someone is smart!  This is the option that I would go.  With your specific budget of $200, I would recommend you to get a Sennheiser HD 598 with an Antlion 4.0 ModMic.

^ the HyperX Cloud is not the typical "gaming headset". It is actually really good.

Can he even get the 598 + that mod pic? I think that would be over his budget.

+1 on headphones and mic (hd598 (or cheaper HD 558)+mic is actually in budget!)

ModMic: http://www.amazon.com/AntLion-Audio-ModMic-Attachable-Microphone/dp/B00T6XUL8S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1435245846&sr=8-1&keywords=modmic&pebp=1435245911786&perid=06RQZM61Y5DXD78Q66YV $49.95

The DT 770s would be great too, just a little bit more expensive.

Edit: I have the HD 598s myself and love them. Open back is just great for soundstage :D

Beyerdynamic dt770+ mod mic simply amazing setup and amazing bass.

Stay away from the g430 and quite frankly in your budget you can do much better than the clouds.

That would be the 32 ohm version correct? Not looking to buy a sound card or an amp or anything if I can help it.

Ohms don't always mean harder to drive, most the time you won't need one.

Hyperx Cloud II, but the microphone is not so good, had to use a separate mic, but the cloud looks low profile and are comfortable, get that.

I use the Logitech g230, they are basically g430 without the USB card that gives you the 7.1 but cheaper.
