It doesn't perform better...

The Fury X trades solid blows with the 980 Ti.

The 390X is not a 980 Ti competitor...

O sorry then whats this lol :P

uwotm8? This looks shady as f**k, also Game Debate , no , just no. The 390X is the 980s rival , the 980ti absolutely stomps it.

It's literally a 8GB 290X. It doesn't even compete with the 980, it's a 970 equivalent.

Check your sources mate , the 390 trades blows with the 970 , the 390x outshines it.

It's a 290X. It was equivalent to a 290X a month ago, it's still equivalent now. It's overclocked to a GHz, but astoundingly you can OC a 970 too. I know, shocking.

That's from march, back then fiji was thought to be named 390X, they even say in the article that it's fiji. 390X is grenada, which is a renamed hawaii. Fiji is called Fury.

Did you check the part where you're comparing an overclocked card with a stock competitor? Overclock the 970 and save £100.

the 390x is a 980 equivalent for those who don't overclock, from what I saw the aftermarket 390x is a bit better than a ref. 980 at stock (with an aftermarket 980 being a bit better and a bit cooler), with about the same thermals but higher powerdraw, for those who don't overclock it's a $50 in NA $100 outside NA cheaper alternative with more vram, for those who overclock the 980 is like a intel K cpu compared to the same non k one, for $50-100 it's 10-20% better then the other, an OC'd 980 actually nearing the thermals of the 390x. So i'd say the 390x is a better price/perf option for those who have more than 450W psu's and don't want to overclock, for those who do a 980 is the same price/perf for a little bit higher price and little bit better performance, I don't see how one is superior than the other, but I see the 980 being a better option for the majority.

A 290X = 970. The 390X is an overclocked 290X. So not really a 980, for people who don't overclock the 390X is more like the Gaming G1 970. Well it would be if Gigabyte decided to inexplicably charge an additional $180, like AMD did. Oh and they found a way to nerf the drivers for the original card to give their version an artificial lead in benchmarks, like AMD did.

The fact is that a 980 has always been able to be matched by overclocking a 970 too. It's one of the reasons I, and many other people, didn't bother with the 980 when it was released.

The 390X is horrendous value for money because it is on sale for £260 and the renamed version costs £350. It doesn't matter that it can be matched by overclocking a 970, the fact that AMD have a cheaper version that is identical by a different name mean literally no one should buy this card ever.
