Please do not use the following arguments:

- Windows has more games. I agree windows is the winning operating system for gamers but please do not use this as an argument.

- The hardware is cheaper, this is very true but i'm asking about the OS and not the hardware.

EDIT: Hate is a strong word. Why do you prefer Windows over OS X?

You're stereotyping that all Windows users automatically hate OS X.

Os is unintuitive at times, simple tasks on Windows are just chores on osx. I mean they're only just getting the snap feature. Also the fact that the resize minimise and close buttons are on the other side is just annoying, also full screen just seems kinda pointless, if you are doing more than one thing at once. Many of the annoyances are probably just due to the familiarity of windows it's been my go to Os for years.

Honestly, because the OS isn't very customizeable (my opinion).  You can get the EXACT SAME interface in linux, and be able to customize the absolute shit out of it.

I use os x every day at work exclusively and it IS FUCKING TERRIBLE. It is time and time again brutally apparent that the entire OS is designed for looks and casual use. Using it as a power user it is hands down the single worst (as in win/linux/os x) OS I use and I use all three on a daily basis.

The idea that I have to install additional applications in order to get functionality back that everyone else in the PC world has had for 5+ years in intolerable. Aerosnap? Pinning a fucking tab in safari? a menu bar that is only in one spot no matter where the window is so you have to go across the screen to use it? Window re-sizing that is fucking retarded? Return and Enter not having the same functionality in even the simplest of programs? Losing screen real estate for no other apparent reason because "purrty"?

Seriously there are hundreds of little reasons why this OS is dogshit, each one costing a few seconds to a minute each time the issue is relevant again making the experience anything but efficient.

BTW sorry everyone, but I had this rant at work as well because I have to use it due to terminal. (Well I could use Linux but the other program I have to also run bugs hard on linux).

OS X has less functionality than Windows 95...

EDIT: Mac is awesome great for casual use, but it is by far worse than both windows and most linux distributions (actually all of them) I have used when it comes to multitasking and power user functionality.

The only reason people dont like the way OSX runs is because they are so used to a windows environment.

Each OS has their perks, you can automate things a lot easier with apple script then you can using a batch file, but you can get tools to do it easier on WIndows than you could on OSX.

I actually dual boot Windows and Mac OS X....and I use both of them quite often.

I prefer Windows as I am more used to it. But OS X isn't too bad...but I just can't adjust to it.

mostly because people are ignorant, OSX is by far a smoother and better written OS. windows is flawed that its just built on the same old kernels/software as it always has. thats why modern UI apps take ages to open even on a SSD, because it probably has to jump though 20 apps/kernels or whatever.

More people are exposed to windows, and people tend to like what they are used to<<<primary reason. if OSX was as easy to install on any hardware as windows, and supported games, id easily pay 200$ or more for it

I like windows because I'm used to it. Sometimes at school we have to use a mac and I have to ask my mac friends how to do something really easy (like delete a file, you can't right click and delete). I'm really good with windows probably just because I'm used to it. I don't HATE OS X i think I'm just not used to it, Also there are more 3rd party things for windows.

You start off your argument with an enormous generalization, you then proceed to call out a specific and 100% valid argument and say "please don't use this" and then you want us to ignore the hardware that comes bundled with and is, officially at least, the only way to obtain said OS.

Oh boy, without even getting into OSX, that is a terrible way to start an argument. If you want to discuss something then you need to adhere to the rules of civil discussion, otherwise this won't work out.

As for OSX, it's totally fine. It is stable, very stable in fact, mostly due to the very limited pool of hardware that it needs to support. It also looks nice, it's responsive and it does all the basic things that an OS needs to do right. The real problems arise when you need a specific program that simply isn't available on OSX, when you want to do more power-user related stuff, when you run several monitors for multitasking, etc.

Well let's see:

The OSX desktop is extremely resources intensive (That's why Apple is so overpriced. Lacking hardware and then they have to compensate with more hardware increasing price)

As other have said the close, maximize and minimize buttons on the left side

All those stupid hot corners

The program menu becomes part of the system menu bar (Ubuntu has this feature but it's better than OSX)

That over sized dock

I have to hold down the mouse button to remain in a menu or drop down list

Obscure ways of having to do simple task unlike Windows where it's out in the open

The file explorer is a mess.

The way mounted drivers are icons on the desktop and I have to drag it to the trash bin to eject it (cause me to have to minimize all my windows, unlike in Windows)

Over protective security (Windows users use VMs or sandboxes. Clean it out and re-make it when it gets messed up. That's not that hard. Most people that use Windows know how to do it. Here you go Apple users: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=why+use+a+virtual+machine)

Not about OSX but their design:

The early Macbook 15: using the frame as a cooler. What if I'm outside in the sun and it's 100F? Oh wait. It's called thermal throttling.

Poor hardware choices
