[HELP] CPU high usage for doing nothing on Windows?

Here's an image of my task manager

 

And look at System, it uses 24.8% CPU and Service host uses 7.8%.

 

It's an i7 4790k so I don't expect it to be this high at all just for browsing on windows...

Please help, ;_;

Yes it's an i7, I expect about 5% being used like it used to. Not 30/40% for no reason...

And it slows down my gaming its pretty annoying

I think that your thermal paste isn't applied right or its a virus that runs applications in the back, try running a system scan and if that doesn't work well, try re installed thermal paste

it is pretty high, this is mine while browsing with google chrome (4tabs open) + music playing

yeah, but he got an i7, and it would be ridiculous for the cpu usage to be that high

Thermal paste wont cause high CPU usage percentages, just high temperatures.

Yes it is.. for idle.

I know Window 8(.1) is strange sometimes idling where the system task will be high sometimes while idling.

Yeah but windows updates is literally named: windows update, lol. His is kernal running high, which is all of system32, I would advise to run a virus scan, and see if it keeps doing it.

I don't get anywhere close to 30 percent on idle with my i7. You should check if you have any background viruses running.

It is idle maintenance like i said previously.. updates etc.

 

Windows runs a maintenance task when the PC is idle (defrag, optimizing .net files with ngen) and this can use some CPU resources.

You can disable it by disabling the task in taskscheduler:

I doubt it's the anti virus. Same with windows updates it comes with its own specific name. Not just "system". Assuming this is the built-in windows defender.

For how long has this been happening?  It's possible a Windows service was running in the background when you took that screencap.  If it happens all the time then you definitely have a problem, whether it's a bad anti-virus program, a virus/malware, or something else.

My FX-8350 is also 32% at idle, its just Windows 8 being wierd at times.

(I know FX-8350 is significantly weaker than an i7 or even an i5)
