my cooler cost twice as much and the temp differences are minimal, ive redone the thermal paste about 10 times, put the cooler on whilst the mobo was in the case and outside of the case, tried two different thermal pastes and thats what i get. so i wouldnt recommend you spend so much on an air cooler.

No. It says 100% load on RealTemp.

I don't understand the problem, you have lower temps than he does.

You do have a more powerful chip that runs a much higher frequency. I am not sure this is a good comparison, not enough to say that the cryorg is that bad. You are also not telling us what cooler it's being compared to or what kind of load it's under. On top of that your temps are lower anyway.

The i5-4690K base clock is 3.5 GHz, the i7-4790 base block is 3.6 GHz. So not much of a difference there. Though I do agree that this is a weird comparison.

not to forget ambient temperatures, because all my stuff pulls those temps on idle.

Did you try asking it nicely? :-P

EDIT: If you're going to make a comparison like this, with different chips, you should try swapping the coolers to see the temps comparison that way. Otherwise it's kinda like comparing two different species apples that were grown in different climates.

Yeah, that's why I took advantage of NewEgg's prices last November and picked up a Cooler Master Seidon 120V for the price of a "really nice" air cooler. My FX-6350 has been running all day, and I've played a couple hours of games, and on idle it sits somewhere between 18-22 C. If I play any kind of heavy load game it'll max out at around 48 C, and then within a couple minutes of exiting the game it'll be back down to 20 C. Don't buy into the hype that more expensive automatically equals better.

My brain saw 4790k, and it thought 4.4ghz.

sorry guys, he has the hyper 212 evo.

this is my old  h55 temps, i can deffo say the r1 was a massive difference to this :

we both ran cpus at stock, mine was actually on a less voltage than his too.

btw we live in the uk so pretty much Antarctica 11/12 months xD

The 212 evo is actually better than a h55. Any aio under 90 usd is almost guaranteed to be crap.

4790 at 1.03v...the stock cooler would have given you the same performance with slightly annoying noise.

I pretty much doubt that considering the r1 beats the h55 by 8-12c on the same voltage....

Too many variables to make decent comparison. Temp difference is 5C which between two aftermarket coolers is almost as much as it gets anyway. But yeah, comparing i5 K to i7 non-K. Not really good to make any assumptions.
