Windows 7

Quick question guys...

I need a copy of Windows 7 Professional for my new work PC and I've found a copy at work, it's OEM... is there any way to check if it's already been used ?

Thanks

Just try to install it on your work PC. If it is not valid, you can simply format the drive you installed it on and install another OS.

Yep. You can still use Windows but it gets kinda mad at you.

Just because you don't care, doesn't mean other others don't. Don't be a self-centered asshole. -Thank You a PSA from the people who do not say random shit on the internet.

Yeah pretty much.  Unless Microsoft has an online tool for checking Windows licenses.

Yes, installing it and attempting to Activate Windows is the only way to see if it's been used.

Windows does not provide a "key checker" or anything online. I suppose you could call their activation centre, but that would bring up all kinds of reg-flags if you start asking if a random key you found is activated or not, so I'd advise against trying that route.

Is that the only way ?

As far as I know, yes.

But some more complications may happen:

A. Is the pc yours? Did you buy it? If the pc is not yours, but from a "larger" company, chances are you are not getting acces to the Bios or even being able to boot from a Dvd.

B. Is there any critical data on the hard drive at this time? If so, BACKUP the data
